"Wings of Quiet Longing" has arrived! I hope everyone enjoys the ride. 🤍

In essence, this tale is a Gothic & Paranormal Romance. I don't make the rules, Romantasy is good for the soul. This is just something Hammer Horror-esque that I decided to write for spooky season and beyond. I've had these original characters for 10+ years, created for RP stories, and I finally decided to bring over to AO3 as well. Alistair and Fenella were inspired by Twelve/Missy and Peter Capaldi/Michelle Gomez.

In the gloomy streets of Victorian London, a vampire is moonlighting as a vigilante. They seem to be protecting the innocent and punishing the corrupt under the cover of night. But why, and what is it all for?

This is a story of two vampires, former lovers, and the one that was sired. Welcome in Lord Alistair MacKay, the sole owner of Dorcha Castle and a writer and artist in his spare time, his former lover who goes by the name of Fenella, and the one and only man Alistair ever turned, Duncan. The latter is ruthless, and so they bid him farewell a half-century ago, but he’s decided to return. Again, the only question worth asking is why?

I've been slightly down today but I saw this pop up and I got excited.
And then I started reading and dear god I loved this chapter.

For one - YOU GOT THEM TO KISS. YESSS FINALLY THEY GOT SOME OF THAT ROMANTIC TENSION OUT.
I saw the summary for this chapter and was immediately like "maniac is the perfect word to describe Duncan at this point."
Also Alastair and Fenella, now having to pretend to be a couple in front of Duncan, whilst also knowing full well that they're definitely just a couple in general, is going to be glorious to read in the next few chapters.
Just in general, I am internally screaming with joy and I'm gonna write an A03 comment once I'm done here so I can talk about those dialogue choices without fear of an increasingly lower word count. Cannot wait to see the next chapter :D

Okay so I saw this post, and then reread Chapter 13 before reading the latest chapter.

1. Holy shit, Duncan does have a flair for the dramatics. Should not have done it to scare poor Alastair though. Also that reveal that Alastair can't be affected by the sun at all but Fenella can be affected (but not die, only gain bruises) was brilliantly done.

2. Damn, the romantic tension between Fenella and Alastair has significantly increased since what happened with Caden. (And I do know that Fen dreamt of Alastair from Chapter 13, and honestly I really want them to kiss now. The slow burn is burning-)

3. Speaking of Chapter 13, you've made me excited to see the scene with Sam, Hati, Fen and Alastair talking to ghosts now. And also Hati is incredibly sweet to both of them, I love it.

4. Fenella reading about vampire history is iconic, and it's incredibly cool how much research you've done on vampires in order to write this story :D

I am incredibly excited to see the story continue to unfold!

Caden's dialogue makes me both intrigued about his gift...more so because he's legitimately just knocked both Alistair and Fenella out, and also just concerned that Caden's gonna die because of this Isma man whom we already know is horrible-

Also Alastair feeding off of Celeste and then sharing the most intensively romantic moment of eye contact ever is just such a vampiric vibe and I love it.

I cannot wait to see what they've gotten themselves into. That was a fun chapter!

I'm glad you liked the chapter! That moment of eye contact was just the sexiest thing ever to write, I swear. Alistair can't seem to help himself when it comes to Fenella, and she's also (finally) giving off jealous vibes. They might be getting somewhere. Maybe. Who knows. It could take a few centuries when it comes to them.

And Caden is such an interesting character. I really love him (and totally wrote him in because I was inspired by a friend who also loves Crowley, who he might have been vaguely based on, so yeah). He's a fun one. His gift will be revealed in the following chapter, I promise.
