Hi!
Let's have this #introduction.

I'm a biology student based in Northern Germany, interested in #ecology and #entomology, especially #beetles

Currently, I'm working on my bachelor's thesis about the biodiversity of rove beetles (#Staphylinidae) in a Hamburg nature reserve.

My posts will be in English and German and you'll hopefully find a lot of #nature pictures here.

Besides #insects, I'm also interested in #photography, #books / #reading and #baking

I'm not new on Mastodon itself, but I missed #biology related content, so be the change, I guess.

@mossesandbees 🙌 👏 nice that you are here!
@mossesandbees biologische Grüße aus dem Süden Deutschlands! 🪲 🌳

Yes, be(e) the change! Welcome! 🙋‍♀️
@mossesandbees Thank you for being a catalyst for more biology enthusiasms. #beetles, #entomology, #pollinators, #nativeplants

Here’s a fun little crawly — not sure if it’s a beetle. I love the translucent body and the way the feet grab and hold on to the edges of the leaf!

Attached: 1 image Manual focus closeup photos on iPhone, looking for suggestions. I love taking very closeup photos outside using my iPhone SE3. I use the older v2 of Obscura, a third-party camera app that lets me manually set the focus and exposure. Using manual focus I adjust a dial or just move the phone. When part of the scene is in focus Obscura displays thin contour lines along all the edges it finds. This is hard to describe but very easy to see in practice. 1/3 #MacroPhotography #Obscura #beetles

@stepheneb it’s a cutie! Definitely a beetle, belonging to the family of Chrysomelidae (Leaf beetles) I’d say 😊
@mossesandbees Welcome again, then! Insects rules!
