@rubyrubedo
Manuals were my favorite genre of book as a kid, much to the convenience of my not-so-manual-enjoying parents.
@rubyrubedo me reading manuals on the toilet cuz I'd get bored
@rubyrubedo unfortunyately I can only read automatics

@rubyrubedo I don't love manuals, but I do love technical documentation.

People are consistently wow at tech interviews because I read the docs on their company's product before showing up, which, just... I thought that was the minimum, but apparently it's impressive?

???

@rubyrubedo what's the source for this?
@rubyrubedo somehow I end up daily-reading more automatics
@rubyrubedo me my entire childhood pre-internet
@rubyrubedo makes me wonder is there a community of people reading manuals on @bookwyrm #Bookwyrm ?
@rubyrubedo HATAKARANAI FUTARI MENTIONED 🗣️
@rubyrubedo also me! man it is so helpful.

We’re not really sure if the Others overestimated our intelligence, or whether it’s a test. The message is unmissable, smack on the H𝛂 absorption-line frequency; it comes with a supplemental channel at 𝛌×𝛑. We worked out that the supplemental channel encodes a virtual machine which is clearly intended to run the data in the main channel. We think they have sent us a sentient ambassador. A million-node computer cluster built out of GPUs that we happened to have—ahem—lying around is already running the VM. It feels like the secrets of the cosmos could imminently be ours. We have teams of scientists poring over the manual page for the decompressor trying to work out the proper command flags. #Tootfic #MicroFiction #PowerOnStoryToot
