Michal Špondr@losttourist Thousands of Mastodon instances run on masto.host, which uses French data centers OVH. So if OVH goes down instead of AWS, the result will be similar.

I've in fact gotten off the corporate internet for the most part:
* I canned my Reddit account weeks ago, and Twitter a year ago
* I self-host personal and business email
* I use @nextcloud for cloud storage on a NAS
I just miss DSLReports. Telecom provider subreddits suck in comparison.
In reality, no-name VPS hosts (including what I run for a living) are often more reliable.
