Fun TTRPG story time! A week late or so though, I suppose.

So, a group on a Discord server I'm in started a RPG campaign to try out a relatively new system called Nimble. It's kind of a rules-lite reimplementation of D&D 5e, in that it's extremely easy to translate 5e content, while streamlininging multiple aspects of combat. For example(and this is relevant) you don't roll to-hit. Instead, you just roll your damage die, which misses on a 1, and on max damage it counts as a crit, and you can roll it again(and keep doing so until you don't roll max damage on it ). Normally this can be offset by a "Defend" action that reduces the damage by your armor, but crits ignore this. It's based on a three action system like Pathfinder 2e, but the first round you usually don't get your full three actions.

So our GM(who is also a bit out of practice) decides to take it easy on everyone and do the stereotypical tavern introduction scene to bring the party together.

Dusk - my character, a 7'+ tall lady gnoll druid type with dark fur
Anuleth - a 3' tall bird folk bard resembling a blue warbler
Drake - a androgynous human student of the old magics
Ver - an elven elemental mage
Klack-Klack - a dragonborn barbarian with a greataxe and not much else

To start things off, the bard was a local and performing while people got their orders in, and conversations started to be struck up. Dusk requested a song of a heroic ballad, which our bard indulged, then literally shoved her face in the stew bowl she had ordered when it arrived. A few kobold miners showed up, poking at her as gnolls aren't typically seen in that area, but she refused the situation by sharing a bit of it with them, and they went to a different table to celebrate.

Shortly after, a large goblin(at 4') barged in, making threats at the konolds, as well as at the mage and barbarian, as they had previously had a run-in with them. The bard, who had just gone on break and had been chatting with Drake, took exception to this and returned the insults, but backed with magical force.

The goblin did not take this well, and called in his boys, who began to advance on both the two little groups(as the mage and barbarian had also been sitting together). Now Dusk had enjoyed the birdboy's music, and took exception to THAT, so she stood and shouted, "Hey, I liked that guy's music!" And full forced threw the empty stew bowl at the head goblin.

Now I just expected this to be the opening shot, but I rolled a crit. Then it exploded again into a third die before stopping. End result? She chucked the bowl at him so hard it outright killed him AND sent his body flying out through the door!

As the bard pointed a finger in the air and shouted "That's my girl!" Dusk then used her remaining action to cast a wind spell at the two minions who had been approaching Drake and the bard alongside their boss. And critted again(despite rolling at a disadvantage for attacking twice in a round). They went flying out through the windows instead, which thankfully for the barkeep had been open due to the nice weather outside.

The remaining minions proved no problem, with the barbarian cleaving one, the mage turning another to ash, and Drake simply demoralizing the last one so bad he just trudged off without trying anything further.

Heck of a way to start a campaign!

So was thinking back on last weekend's session and I think I've found one of Dusk's main hobbies: cooking!

You see, as a gnoll, it's true she can eat pretty much anything without issue, but she has a sensitive sniffer, and her shaman and naturalistic training has taught her which herbs and spices are useful for different to bring out different sorts of flavors in her hunts and catches.

This came out of our shopping trip in preparation for going to investigate why goblins took the founding documents of the town we are in. (Suffice it to say we know they were exiled at one point, but taking the founding documents doesn't do them any good in being able to rejoin the town.)

When we entered the provisions store, once the DM described the inside, Dusk basically went straight for the spice rack, with all its lovely smells. Sage, oregeno, thyme, baisley, even some curry! She even got a discount on it by accidentally intimidating the kobold shopkeep who had planned to try and overcharge her. Really, all she did was reiterate she liked her meals *fresh* and give him a big toothy smile! The little 3' kobold certainly had nothing to fear from this 7'3" big beefy gnoll lady with very sharp teeth....

Given Dusk only had one piece of art to her name and it was fairly generic, I decided to get one from SadNicole(https://www.furaffinity.net/user/sadnicole ) themed around her cooking!

The campaign itself was actually supposed to end on our session last night, but we kind of derailed the ending by going the True Neutral route, since we didn't know any better. We uncovered that the demon world and fae world had been separated from the natural world at one point, with the fae wanting to eliminate the demons, and vice versa, in the process of rescuing the captured faerie who was keeping up the status quo. After bumbling through a illusion-trapped dungeon we rescued her, but also found an artifact that could give either fae or demons primacy. The GM's intention was we would give it to the fae, end the campaign, and start a new one, but we kept it from the demon and temporarily imprisoned the faerie ourselves in a safe place while we go figure out what the crystal's actual deal is and look for a different solution.

Also Dusk got her paws slapped MULTIPLE times that session poking her snoot into things before the others could stop her.
