@skinnylatte I have a suggestion.
@sindarina @skinnylatte that joke is better in Dutch: Fish are "vissen", which in some dialects sounds exactly like we say "vice": both would be pronounces something like "vee-suh", with quite a short "ee".

@kmmich @skinnylatte Well, yes, but ...

Als je zoveel woorden nodig hebt om het uit te leggen dan doet dat toch wel iets af aan de waarde van de meme, en dat is waarom ik 'm maar gewoon in het Engels heb gehouden 😏

@sindarina I agree, but I also think @skinnylatte might appreciate the finesses of foreign laguage pronunciation to feel a joke a bit better :)
@skinnylatte so tempted....but I'm busy.

@skinnylatte seriously, it seems like a dream job!

And having you on my team?!!! Such a dream!

And yes, I'm tempted. But I'm busy :)

@skinnylatte I don't have half the qualifications this job would require, but it sounds like an absolute dream job.
@skinnylatte since this VP job reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, I forwarded this to a CMO friend to see if they might know someone who might be interested. Our friend has worked for several OSS, data management and analytics, and [not really but the marketing hype says] AI companies in the Bay Area. @czds and I first met him, OMG, twenty years ago, and he and his family have become good friends since. Good guy who has hired a lot of great people.
@jadp @skinnylatte @czds I'm curious why the VP of Tech would report to the CMO. Is that a common thing?
@baishen @jadp @czds in many cultural institutions including museums, technology is not a C level job. There is *maybe* a CIO some places but not here.
@skinnylatte @jadp @czds Makes sense, but marketing seems an odd place for it to be under.
@baishen @jadp @czds marketing in a cultural institution is very different from marketing in a tech context. they are responsible for ticketing and audience and general brand reputation and user experience
@skinnylatte wish it was fully remote and international - I'm looking out for tech roles in real problem areas that matter today like Climate Change
@skinnylatte That sounds like a fun job. I wish I was qualified.
@skinnylatte What a great position, just on the wrong part of the Earth. I used to work with Antje in Bremen about 20 years ago. https://www.mbari.org/person/antje-boetius/
@cubeos nice! she just moved here :)
@skinnylatte Ah crud, if that was entirely remote, I would love to throw my resume in the ring for that position. I do have a couple of friends in the bay area who might be interested though. I’ll send the job posting their way.

@skinnylatte

So... I submitted an application, especially because of the amazing experiences you've posted about this year. We've been aquarium members for some time β€” eldest sprog is VERY ENTHUSED about Octopodes, and now studying biosystems engineering.

I've worked in and volunteered in climate change related nonprofits/NGOs for some years, and also worked in the more traditional Tech industry.

Anyway, thank you for posting everything you do. It is inspiring.

@skinnylatte Very interesting. Bit of a drive from here for the two days a week, but I could make that work I think…
@Bluedonkey we could carpool (you’d drive, I’d.. keep you company).
@skinnylatte I seriously would love it but is there remote flexibility? I’m waaay down south in CA
@skinnylatte I'm sure you'd get a better response if you included "whale watching whenever you want"...!
