Huge respect to the father of Tyler Robinson for trying to consult with a pastor on what to do, but instead of giving advice or something the pastor immediately ratted them out to the cops.
Given the fact there's now good reasons to believe the (alleged, but himself confessed) assassin of Charlie Kirk was a right wing gun nut, to whom Kirk was not right wing enough, makes me feel more valid in my cynical criticism of Kirk and his passing.
He died not just as a result of the world he created, but specifically through the hands of a person he radicalized, utilizing gun “rights” Kirk defended day and night.
If life was a screenplay, this would be an on the nose plot point that the writers inserted to spread their own political beliefs. Yet it isn't, this is real life, and these are the real consequences of your words.
Before 1933 the Nazi's only official crime was speech. Afterwards, they legalized anything that speech justified. Remember that.
A far right media outlet told people to mass report my posts on Instagram, many of them were removed without any notice or ability to appeal.
When a story of mine was deleted and Instagram notified me so I could appeal, it was almost immediately reinstated.
Whatever you think of my posts, I should at least be told they were wrong or against the community guidelines. Instagram happily told me that. If a post on Mastodon is moderated, a user on Mastodon is immediately notified and can appeal. This process can sometimes be intransparent depending on the moderator, but it's a hell of a lot better than having some AI algorithm delete your posts for being mass reported and then gaslighting you that they never existed.
I've been told by a couple of big accounts it sometimes takes days or weeks for you to be able to appeal a decision and there doesn't seem to be any reason for why this happens. Certain AI automated decisions cannot be appealed.
Now that the assassin is confirmed to be a Nick Fuentes fan right winger, nobody cares about Kirk anymore and the golden age of newly discovered Republican empathy has abruptly come to an end.

On a real note, though: Instagram didn't notify me of my post's deletion up until one hour ago where they told me they reviewed it and allowed it back online. This makes me believe one thing: it was automatically taken down, due to the number of reports or something of that kind, and a special system activated where an Instagram employee needed to confirm it going back online. Automated, or third party. Something that isn't Instagram or one of its representatives / employees per se. An automated algorithm. Very very thankful for Mastodon automatically telling you when something happened. The work of our moderators can be intransparent, yes! However, never so intransparent that the platform doesn't even have control over what post is deleted. #PissGate

The first is a correct analysis of the Republican instrumentalization of Kirk's death, the second is poking fun at Trump for his terrible eulogy.
They are instrumentalizing this assassination, and they will go around on a killing spree, justifying the restructuring of universities, media, human (especially trans) rights, and basic government principles in his name.
First they came for the Kimmels, and I did not care, because I didn't find his jokes funny
Teachers, university professors, troops, talk show hosts and news reporters, or anyone with a publicly voiced opinion alike, are being forced into silence over rational statements.
From a government that formed under the pretext of claiming that “hate speech” doesn't exist, there's currently an awful lot of tone policing for when a fraction of their violence and indifference is applied to one of their figureheads.
It was always the goal to use the notion of freedom of expression as a Trojan horse for one's hatred against marginalized groups and their subjugation, never truly because so-called libertarians or conservatives believed in it. Free speech for me, but not for thee.

@ErikUden This is complete misinformation. The Nazis did an unsuccessful violent coup in the 20s and were banned nationwide for years. Hitler famously spent quite some time in prison writing Mein Kampf.
Later, they were unbanned and used as informal paramilitary forces by the establishment as a violent suppression force against communists and labour unions. Those actions were also largely illegal.

@GroupNebula563 I do believe Mastodon has some sort of protective shield as no journalist has ever dared to just click on my Mastodon profile linked on every other social media platform I have. They'll dig through some deep documents confirming I have some sort of position in my political party in order to put pressure on them, write texts to my parents with names of our friends but wrong numbers, or E-Mail my co-workers at holocaust remembrance exhibitions / museums, yet never just go on this platform.
Every lukewarm take on the other platforms is immediately siphoned to some far right think tank in some TPUSA member's dorm, but whatever I post on Mastodon is just shared within leftist circles.
Some day a journalist will breach over to this platform and “discover” my (Google indedexed and immediately sent to tens of thousands of people) secret messages... on that day my house of cards will crumble.
@GroupNebula563 on an honest note: I think other networks have a lot of right wing people that forward this stuff to right wing media outlets. I think Mastodon may have many varying opinions, but little to no snitches.
