@linmob @postmarketOS I remember seeing that /r/linux post and being like "heh, love the enthusiasm and appreciate the effort. Such a shame that it'll go to waste, these kinds of projects always fizzle out."
So happy to have been proven wrong.
From the #pinephone after being a lil disappointed in ubports approach... Not saying it's bad, just wasn't for me ... And the #sxmo project

> How did you learn about postmarketOS?
I honestly can't remember. Most likely either here or through random web searches for things like 'Android alternatives' or 'mobile GNU'. Why do you ask?
@postmarketOS back in 2019, when i was briefly in the r/unixporn discord (don't judge), i was complaining that i couldn't port ubports to my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0). there, someone (@danct12 iirc?) said i should look into postmarketOS.
6 years later and that same tablet runs mainline Linux now, i guess i stuck around :D
A fun fact: I originally just wanted to run desktop Linux on my phone because I wanted to hook up a keyboard to use it on the go.
I was rocking an i3wm setup running inside a Linux chroot and using one of those Xserver app on Android. Yes, on a 5 inch display (720p), seriously.
I had to modify the keymap file to map the Super key to the volume keys so it doesn't trigger Android shortcuts. Fun times.
I believe a year later was when I actually started looking into postmarketOS and doing actual things with it.
BTW, the original PineTab was one of the first original device I got from @pine64 when they asked pmOS to look for a developer to work on it.
@postmarketOS I learned about it a while ago on Youtube. I was recently reminded of it on the Fedi when someone posted about postmarketOS working so well on their phone that they might be able to use it as a daily driver.
Of course I understand that it shouldn't be used like that yet, but it made me excited to see how much progress has been made.
