April 1st is over.

However, we really do want to port Haiku to the RK356x.

In fact, there is progress on porting Haiku to arm64 and it seems to be making good progress: https://discuss.haiku-os.org/t/arm64-port-for-haiku/18772/1

We have NO PLANS to deprecate our ALARM-based Linux distro. 🙂

Our development summary for March is up: https://phosh.mobi/posts/development-news-2026-03/ . It's a bit shorter this time as several of your project members were busy with non-coding things like preparing CLT2026 and some paperwork we can hopefully talk about soon.
Development News March 2026

Here’s our third development progress update for 2026. This can still be a bit spotty, if you find something missing please provide a merge request. The preparations for the 0.54 release are currently in full swing, quite a bit of bug fixes and housekeeping but there are also some new features like speech input looming on the horizon. Check out the details below. Want to try this out already? See below.

We want to port Haiku to the RK356x platform 🙂

It's a long term plan but once Haiku port for RK356x is done and ready, we'll:

- Deprecating our ALARM-based Linux distro in favor of Haiku.

- All new PineTab2 will ship with Haiku instead of traditional ALARM-based Linux distro.

- Existing users will still remain on ALARM, however there'll not be any updates (user will receive "there is nothing to do" when they tried to update it)

Our new release 0.89.0 is published! 🎉 This round we bring not one but two big new features: sync with Health Connect and internet access. 💪 Do these features sound a bit strange, coming from us? 🤔 Then make sure to read the blog post for details and rationale! And of course this release also contains the usual list of newly supported devices, smaller features, improvements and bug fixes. Pinephone Pro Linux mainlining thread

Decided to  make a thread on the work I'm doing on the Pinephone Pro and pin it to my profile. Here's the list of things I've done so far:

- https://fosstodon.org/@Logical_Error/115863006627226016

Mainlining Guide: https://forum.mainlining.org/t/upstream-pinephone-pro-patches/138

Had to pause Pinephone Pro development because I got demotivated a bit, but hopefully I'll be able to continue in the near future. Stay tuned~

fixing pinephonepro’s build in pmOS im not sure what happened but for some reason i couldn’t do pmbootstrap build device-pine64-pinephonepro --force i got a fix that was merged in now https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/7308 im assuming that there was a pmb update that changed the build dir. since pmb doesnt rebuild existing packages, this was a problem waiting to strike on the next ppp build wouldve liked to figure out what went wrong, but got bisecting pmbootstrap and pmaports gives a lot of errors :/
