We won! I think we got a grand slam in the 6th, but these two annoying dogs kept running around and distracted me. It was at least a three run home run! We won 7-1! I forgot double headers were fewer innings. There were a lot of good plays and a few crazy foul balls!
I'm not staying for game 2, I have shopping to do! And I'm hungry!
Somehow I missed recording all the best plays! This was a rundown where the runner got tagged, but we had one rundown where the defence got sloppy and our runner made it home!
There was barely anyone on the bleachers today. The last time I came (last season) it was packed, they even had a canopy up past the dugout. So I don't get why it was totally dead today 🤷🏽♀️ Apart from one other woman (who I think was a relative of a player as I saw them talking), I was the only person who stayed for the entire game.

Question: is #Muncy back on the IL? He came back after coming off it, but now he's gone again. Is Kim also on the IL? What happened to Barnes, has he been pretty much retired now we have Smith as primary and Rushing as backup? Why is #Conforto? Is Teoscar's defence as bad and lazy as the comments make out? He was so clutch last season, but now he's pretty much a guaranteed out on offence and rarely makes good defensive plays. I know #Ohtani has some impressive offensive stats, but he's so inconsistent.
I miss some of the old guys. Trayce Thompson (he played for Team GB in the WBC), he got three homers in one game once.

I'd have liked the Dodgers to win, but Blue Jays deserve it this year. They've been on the offensive all year, whereas the Dodgers slump too much.

🇭🇺@SilverArrows San Diego just played my wife's (and mother-in-law's) team, the San Francisco Giants (she's from the San Francisco Bay Area, although we presently live in Mississippi). The #SFGiants had been doing so badly they had a 1–15–1 record in home games, equaling the record for the all-time worst start to a season in home games, which they had themselves set — in 1901[!] (as the New York Giants, before they moved to California along with the #Dodgers). Last night they'd finally managed a win, so as to avoid setting a new record — against the miserable Tampa Bay #Rays.
Now they faced one of the strongest teams in the league — in the running for the pennant — in San Diego. We braced ourselves for a dismal massacre. Instead, the #SFGiants got 3 homers, for a total of 4 runs, in the first inning! They never scored again — but their pitching, which had hitherto been a particular area of trouble, managed to keep San Diego mostly under control. Final score: #SFGiants won 4–3.
This is a team that can beat anyone in the league. And they might be doing it, too, if their managers would treat them right.

I haven't been into baseball long enough to really feel the Giants vs Dodgers rivalry. I have a healthy respect for SF though. They seem like a pretty classy team. Part of the reason I don't like SD is the attitude of some of their players, like Machado. So it's always nice when they get shown who their real daddies are 😂
@SilverArrows The #SFGiants PLAYERS are classy. The owners and managers, not so much. Posey (owner) and Melvin (manager), in particular, are real pieces of work. Their abuse has demoralized a team that ought to be in pennant contention to the point that they're nearly in the cellar instead.
You know Blake Snell, a recent (and sweet) addition to your beloved #Dodgers' bullpen? He used to be the best pitcher for the #SFGiants. Admittedly the #Dodgers lured him away with a very sweet deal, but the SF owners and managers seemingly didn't even try to retain him.
They traded away one of their best relievers, Tyler Rogers, the "Submariner", who demonstrated again and again that underhand pitching could work in the major leagues. He was effective AND tremendous fun to watch.
And the way they treated one of their best all-around fielders, batters, and base runners: Tyler Fitzgerald. He was a superb base-stealer, but they overplayed his abilities in that department. Again and again they told him to go for it in impossible situations — then blamed HIM when he got thrown out trying to steal. They TWICE sent him down to the minors! Currently he's back playing for the Giants. I hope he stays that way!
You get the idea. Believe me, there are many more examples. This kind of behavior is how you turn winners into losers.
@dedicto sounds a lot like my former workplace! Low morale and nearly every resignation is due to the abusive manager. But head office keeps him on and protects him.
Any chance the Giants will get a new manager any time soon?

@dedicto I watched the highlights for that game just now. I don't get how that home run was called fan interference? He literally lost his grip on the ball, I couldn't see any contact from the fans at all. As much as I dislike the #Padres, I can sympathise with the player on that one.
Edit: apparently it obstructed his view? But he caught it, he just didn't hold onto it.
The second review overturn of first base tag on the Giants player also looked wrong from the angle they showed. He seemed to stay on the bag.
@SilverArrows My wife remarked at the time how random the officiating was in that game. It wasn't biased to favor one team or the other — just BAD. That included not only the umpires on the field, but also the review officials in New York. IIRC we all thought the #SFGiants player stayed on first base, too. He used both feet and one hand to do it, but at no time was his body entirely out of contact with the bag (assuming I'm not confusing two different plays). He was robbed on the review.
Actually IIRC the home plate umpire was the worst. Balls were continually being called as strikes, and strikes as balls. He just couldn't see the strike zone!
@dedicto yeah that's the one I saw. From the angle on the slo-mo, he maintained contact the whole time.
I get as ump being off in real time, but not replays. But maybe there was another angle that showed he was off the bag a moment? I've seen it in other games where one angle looks like full contact, but another shows they've lost contact long enough for the tag to apply.
I hope Jomboy does a breakdown of that game.
