Agi: Kanye West al Wireless Festival di Londra. Starmer è preoccupato

AGI - Il premier britannico, Keir Starmer, ha espresso "profonda preoccupazione" per l'annuncio che il rapper americano Kanye West, ammiratore di Adolf Hitler e autore di commenti antisemiti, parteciperà al Festival musicale Wireless in programma al Finsbury Park di Londra a fine aprile. "L'antisemitismo in qualsiasi forma è abominevole e deve essere contrasto con fermezza ovunque si manifesti", ha denunciato Starmer, citato dal 'Sun'. "Ognuno ha la responsabilità di garantire che la Gran Bretagna sia un luogo dove gli ebrei possano sentirsi al sicuro", ha aggiunto.
Contro la partecipazione del 48enne rapper di Atlanta, oggi noto come Ye, si erano espressi diversi esponenti politici inglesi tra cui il leader liberaldemocratico, Ed Davey. Un portavoce del sindaco di Londra, Sadiq Khan, ha definito molte affermazioni di Kanye West "offensive e sbagliate" ma ha sottolineato che il comune è estraneo all'organizzazione del Festival.
Le scuse di Kanye West
A gennaio West si era scusato per le sue affermazioni antisemite con una lettera pubblicata comprando un'intera pagina sul Wall Street Journal. West aveva riconosciuto le proprie responsabilità raccontando di aver intrapreso un percorso di cura per il disturbo bipolare che lo aveva afflitto in particolare per quattro mesi all'inizio del 2025.

AGI - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed “deep concern” over the announcement that rapper Kanye West, an admirer of Adolf Hitler and author of antisemitic comments, will be participating in the Wireless music festival scheduled for late April at Finsbury Park in London. “Antisemitism in any form is abominable and must be confronted with firmness wherever it manifests,” Starmer denounced, according to the ‘Sun’. “Everyone has a responsibility to ensure that Britain is a place where Jews can feel safe,” he added.
Several British political figures, including Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey, had expressed opposition to the rapper’s participation, aged 48 and from Atlanta, now known as Ye. A spokesperson for London Mayor Sadiq Khan described many of Kanye West’s statements as “offensive and wrong” but emphasized that the council is uninvolved in the organization of the festival.
Kanye West’s Apologies
In January, West apologized for his antisemitic remarks with a letter published on a full-page spread in the Wall Street Journal. West admitted his responsibility, saying he had embarked on a healing journey for his bipolar disorder that had afflicted him particularly for four months at the beginning of 2025.

A very cold start to #FinsburyPark #parkrun this morning but as the sun broke through it warmed into a lovely run (I’m glossing over the short sharp hill).

A trip made all the better for seeing the marvellous @GavinFreeguard colliding out of my work world and into my running one.
