According to Google: AI now writes 50% of the code at #Google 😱 https://research.google/blog/ai-in-software-engineering-at-google-progress-and-the-path-ahead/ I wonder how Chromium/Chrome/Android and other software will look in 5 years ?

@nixCraft

Basically here is adequate meme:

@wbezs @nixCraft

where are happy non-engineers going in "what is actually going to happen" situation.

@longLiveCarryOn
The non-engineers wait for their shares to vest, and then sell them, and move on to get more VC money for the next big thing in the next bubble while the whole time being smug about all the "sad engineers" being "stuck in the past" maintaining the app

@wbezs @nixCraft

@longLiveCarryOn They're the ones that use the basic features only or don't use the software at all, just comment "it works for me" to every frustrated users' bug reports.

@queenofnewyork @wbezs ID: a 3 panel comic.

The first is captioned "current situation" and shows sad developers next to a "pile of complexity (languages, toolchains, infra)" which feeds into an app on a phone.

The second is captioned "what people think AI will do" and shows happy non-engineers next to AI feeding into the previous pile of complexity (that no longer matters) and then an app on a phone

The final, heart breaking frame shows sad engineers next to a "New pile of complexity, AI pipelines, temples etc)" which feeds into AI... but this time, behind the AI is the "old pile of complexity" feeding a the phone app, only this time the old pile of complexity has even more sad engineers around it

@EndlessMason @wbezs Yep, that’s definitely how it’s trending.

@queenofnewyork @wbezs The only way out is to find a pile of garbage that you like, and stand next to it until you stop needing a job ...

not optimal

@wbezs @nixCraft it is sad engineers all the way down
