You don't get to use what's paid with them. Ground their aircraft, as air traffic control is bankrolled by the tax payer. Go to schools and universities and physically impede their kids from entering. If they cry about meddling with the kids, tell them "empathy is weakness."

LastOfThem@augieray serious answer: because the rich people hold enough power to sway politicians. And because politicians (but also many others) have adopted the ideology that being poor is a choice borne of lazyness, that shouldn't be rewared. Being rich is the result of hard work and a sign of success, so should be rewarded. In this narrative, taxing the rich is 'stealing their hard-earned money' whereas free services for the poor 'reward sitting on your ass and doing nothing'.
@lastofthem @augieray Not to mention legalized gerrymandering, first-past-the-post voting, lack of term limits, lifetime judge appointments. But those are simply the tools they use to get the job of the rich done.

However, the religiously rabid Republicans have the same twisted "morals" as the Taliban.
The key to the success of the Republicans is that they are usually better funded (or are better at leveraging their funding) than the Democrats.
This is because the Republicans are aligned with "big business" or "big tech" and better users of the data collected from 'social media'.
Republicans use this funding and data to better understand their base, and those who may be politically 'centre', in order to convince those voters to elect those who will act AGAINST THE INTERESTS of those voters.
Democratic truth will not be able to overcome Republican rhetoric until The People pull the wool from their eyes.
Until then, Donald is going to continue to piss on everyone's legs, while saying, "It's raining. Such a lovely warm rain. America has the best rain."
