@stopthatgirl7 this is one of the reasons why I will probably leave mastodon.social for another instance.

One of the core values of the fediverse should be the prohibition of any form of AI. Every server should adhere to this.

@stopthatgirl7 even sites that have it, like formerly respected stock image sites, selecting to exclude AI doesn’t actually work & large portion of AI gets through and treated as if it’s photography or original art they have rights to offer with a fee…but bc it’s AI, rights cannot be granted as its built on the work of others who actually have the copyright. So they are committing fraud when they grant rights on AI images they haven’t bothered to check if legit.

Looks like a nice initiative the EU should follow, although I would prefer a switch "Use AI", which is default OFF, congruent to other EU regulations, that prescribe "Opt-in". It's late, so please hurry.
Motives:
- Waste of energy and scarce resources
- Illegal use of copyrighted content to train LLMs
- Lack of reliability of #LLM results
- dumbing down the population by use of LLMs

Or at least, you can take the function up (and people are commenting) but please let's not use THAT or any other virtual controls which don't clearly indicate their status, and I don't mean by changing colour. Labels or clearly visually distinct glyphs with suitable alt descriptions. ✅ and ❌ are standard.

If I want to use AI, I want to explicitly and dedicatedly start the AI page / App. I do not like all those AI functions spreading virus like into almost every App.

This is similar to my car. Why would I want - under normal circumstances - my car engine run all day (no, I do not live in Jakutsk).
