vandys@petergleick I looked around; the roses remain, the paths are being switched from grass to pavement. The reason is that formal events are held there, and the grass gets muddy.
I live in one of the most liberal places on earth, and our _farmer's market_ just did the same thing to a bunch of grass for the same reason.
