Reports in the crowd that more police are arriving. Guess they're forming a kettle here. I have not heard anything about any order to disperse or anything like that. The cops seem to just have just started rolling up on protesters and doing their thing.

L.A. curfew begins in 50 minutes. This is still pretty deep downtown, but the broad strategy is pretty obviously to gradually clear DTLA well before then with steadily advancing waves of police violence.
The media are being instructed to remain parallel with a police vehicle that is advancing behind the footsoldiers.
Naturally, these vehicles are much further back than the media previously were.

the main centralizing element has been the fact that the federal detention center is actively assisting the process of kidnapping people and feeding them into a violent foreign prison system that taxpayers are paying money for. a crowd being *there* is actively disruptive to ICE operations.
