02.06.2026 What’s the biggest challenge you’re facing with your current project?

Writing on it and not bloating the first chapter further...
My depressions wheren't especially kind this year and May always gets a bit harder, and a lot of my tech beaking wasn't helpful either.
I'm sure I have some backup of my writing somewhere but my Backup hard drive breaking before I could replace it, scrambled at least my easy access.

My mind is in a skip mood, can't handle, skip, don't want to think about, skip, stuck in mid story, skip...
Which is bad for my writing, it makes it a cluttered, chaotic thing.
And than their is this multiverse spawning in my head for over a year now, same characters different lives and I haven't even finished chapter 2 of my "start" story.

Well at least my mood is getting better lately.

Is your MC a good cook? Any special dishes?

Kira loves to cook and her Family Chilli is superior to that of her mum (the ice queen), her sister's and even her dad's (not that this matter much anymore). She clearly inherited her cooking skills from her biological family plus the nose for details from her second family.

It's ironic that, with her skills, she is the one that almost always comes back to unrefined Enzyme Printer Liquid (EQuil is basically printer ink & if you ask others unrefined it tastes exactly like that, if they would know what printer ink was).
She regularly cooks for the whole crew & it's one of the reasons most of the crew really appreciate her, because she doesn't simply cook one pot, she takes the little spare time she has left, as an acting captain, to create a dish for all different ways people prefer to eat & even organizes the ingredients herself if it is possible, bitter sweet ->

<- irony that she is on the brink of an hard eating disorder, the only thing keeping her stomach from loosing its digestion ability for solid food are her cooking, if she eats with the crew (often she doesn't just keeping around) and her beloved honey toast.

Arkham she owns a restaurant... Place... And it's interior but she is more of an take out person and finds the refined EQuil good enough.
And she only owns it do to the fact she helped someone out.
She knows her way around some foods but you wouldn't call it spectacular or even... "Good™"
She is basically the 24. Century noodlesoup student.

Ash as an AI knows all possible meals saved in her vaste data bank and you could call it cooking to print a perfect nurturing meal in the exact condition you wish it (or being able to communicate it to the computer).
Thanks to Kira's memories she made vast improvements taste wise.

Rant:
For some reason my brain always spits out nouns if someone ask me for adjectives, or similar stuff. It is always "no not yet instead" am I just so "anti" or do I have some sort of disorder? Geez. Focus.

What would your first chapter smell like?

I guess is meant as a mood description help and not the actual smell because than I wouldn't want anything else than paper, glue and printer ink aka the smell of new books.

For mood picturing

- Hot desert sand
- the smell of human exhaustion (it's different from normal sweat or day old sweat)
- Hot Linens, if you come to close
- Hover machinery, used vehicle interior, old Roadside motels and offices
- suffocating Cinnamon.
- Food, hot, spicy & umami (peoples noses can pick up a lot)
- Shower gel and bodylotion.
- Saltwater.
- Hospital rooms.
- Burning Metals.

What object would you use to represent the sensory feel of your story?

An unknown Error has occurred. Mind.exe does not work correctly anymore. Please close all thinking processes and reboot Brain.

A book? Softcover recycling paper.

"Sensory feel" is oddly phrased for me, but it would be touch, it could be taste but only if you lick the book and asked for sensory taste, main sensory input is via the eyes but nothing in the eyes feels?
Sorry, I'm confused and even after reading different answers my brain struggles with this task.

Maybe a digital reading device?😅

08.06.2025 If you have more than one story, what’s your best one & why? If only one, what’s the best part?

Ehm if I don't count in my baffling amount of GM only stories in which I wrote way to much stuff for the GMs of RPGs only to share it with some players I have to say Star Ryde.
Nacht des Mahrs is my cursed one. 3 (maybe 4) completely losses and restarts since my teenage years...
Star Ryde and it's possible spin offs and multiverse variants like Star Ryder (same universe from the view of a bounty hunter in the rim territory), Star Tyde the space cruise Story in which everything resolves around hotel/motel works and new roles for known characters from the Star Ryde universe. Also Star Ryde produced so many ideas that I don't want to write into the script that I can use it for my own parody on the space opera/science fiction genre (WIP Name Galaxy Glyde).
Sadly I forgot my idea from this morning. I thought it sounds fun...

MC POV: Whose advice do you value the most?

Kira:"Advise is something that is rare for a Captain on an covert ops mission. I value the suggestions of my crew & the analysis of Ash.
Personal I like that we all are friends in a way, even Jenkins sometimes let's his mask down & shows that he cares for the crew in his way, not only the mission. Arkham has a good head on her shoulders if you give her the change for a second thought, Talisa is our unofficial ship counselor, usually ships of this size with this crew complement & mission profile don't have any which is why I'm lucky to have her on board, the fact that we know each other since Academy is helpful too. Chief Trawella is a the chef engineer, & he oversaw the refit for this mission. It simply depends on the situation & the asked skills. Arkham has some engineering skills but if the ship is flying apart I rather like to have the chef engineer glue it together."

10.06.2025 How many POV characters does your story have? Is that your preferred approach in general?

None to one, we read the story through the eyes of an Almighty narrator, or my eyes if you want to push it and argue like: "Well it's your work and you are a character, especially following the description on your Mastodon profile... Jada Jada Jada *insert Karen moment Tantrum*"
I only give away facts, about my Universe & the general movement of thoughts, in the Union or the Rim territories, if needed or describe the scenario to paint a picture with words but evern than I try to use general expressions like shimmering glas instead of beautiful glas.

TLDR: zero point of view from characters, because the narrative "voice" isn't a real character in itself.
And character POV gets tiresome really quick if you ask me, but some stories are better with it so -> No

If your MC magically became a dog, what breed would fit them best?

I don't know enough about dog breeds to answer this.
I could only tell the weird story of the a cancer that is genetically a pure dog. Or more uplifting Dogs and bears probably stem from the same ancestral lineage

It's not that I don't like dogs but I only started warming up to them in the last 4 years do to my main partner.

Arkham could be a pitbull of sort a precious gem misunderstood by many.

If you asked me what kind of rat I'd cat my MC's would be I could tell a lot more for sure.

And how do I categorize a Spaceship into a dog breed?
A mythological creature like the magical cat bus from my neighbor Totoro? 🤔

15.06.2025 If your MC found a clean, sealed, unlabelled box, would they open it? Why or why not?

Safety standards: scan the box, check if damaged, put it in to a containment box or field. If your gut is telling you it's safe scan again and at least 3 more times before bringing it close to Alliance Personal or onto Alliance Ships. Open only if it is save to open it. Containment field or chamber has to be used.
If your gut still says it's unsafe leave it with an A/UST token (Alliance/Union Salvage Token) for a proper equipped team/ship.

Has your physical health ever affected your ability to write or the topics you write about?

I can't say how much because I can't remember how often I had to low or to high sugar levels as I tried to write something. And of course their are certain things I have not experienced i'm writing about but that is most likely not the fault of my health, what way more often crosses my endeavors are my eyes and my depressions.

Especially if an app or program just simply sucks like Adropen Office which just ignores everything that makes it easier for me to read my phone on bad days, like dark mode or switching the size of its sloppy rigged together Android and PC UI only to hide Open Office functions behind a pay wall... they really earned a harsh one star review with my experience.

And I guess in my remaining lifetime probably 30 with luck 60 years I will not reach space ... Which indeed makes me kinda sad.

Are there any midsummer traditions in your world?

im sure in my around 100 planets, that evolved a sapient or sentient form of live, I have planned, some will get theirs if I visit them inside a story especially exo earth colonies that where lifted of Terra before official first contacts.

Not all Aliens are friendly after all and 3000+ years do not only pass on earth with incredible changes.

And some might have even survived from our time if not changed dramatically.

If you could choose another (living) author to remix your work, who would it be and why?

Remix? It's not an Audio track remixing would imply changing the text so it would come out differently...

Fanfictions? Tribute or reinterpreted stuff might be okay in a limited way and Im very open minded with Fanfiction and would be honored to have fans eventually (which would need something to fan about in the first place, jerky self aware jab to my self again ...)

But the idea of an remix reminds me to the abysmally work that one ass did to Terry Pratchett, slaughtering his work with AI quality of rewriting and NOT EVEN MENTIONING THE MAN in the credits because he hadn't anything to do with that interpretation because he was already dead... 🤬

If you feel like faning enough about my unfinished work that you imagine your own stories go own with it but please at least give credit where it's due.

@art_of_goulwenr I know of some depictions of mythological or literature dogs.
Like Cerberus or The 'Dog' of Baskerville.
As a child my grandparents had an old good boy German shepherd and my mother currently has a Romanian Street Rescue but I'm simply not deep enough into Dog "Lore" to make a non "estimated" statement to the question...😅
