Good morning!

My foot is much better today, if not quite 100%. I skipped my early-morning walk mostly because I didn't want to walk in the rain, and it's going to keep raining all day long.

So this will be another day of staying home and writing. I'd like to finish this draft before June 13 when school ends and my upstairs neighbor starts being home all day. That's probably not going to happen, but I'll try to get close to that anyway.

Have a good one, my friends.

I’m glad your foot is better! No walk for me today either. It’s a very rainy and gloomy day.

Here’s to some productive writing today and in the days ahead!

@joyce If I have the right gear, and IF the wind isn't blowing, I find walking in the rain both soothing and invigorating. I suppose I cherish it more because we don't get a lot of rain here. 😃 🌧️ ☂️

@CA_Hawthorne @joyce

Yeah, I envy people with rain. In moderation of course 😆

@crcollins @joyce We get, maybe, a dozen days of rain from late March through June, so I cherish them. After that, it depends on whether we have a thunderstorm during the summer. Some years we have several, other years none at all. Annually, we get about 14-inches of moisture so it's pretty dry here.

I wish I'd moved somewhere (like back to Colorado) with less rain when I retired. But I didn't have the money then. Now I probably have enough money, but I just don't have the energy.

@joyce @crcollins I love the rain—but my sinuses don't. Growing up in NY, I suffered a lot, especially in the autumn.

I almost moved to Colorado in 2014 because it was more politically suitable, but couldn't find anywhere I could afford at the time. So, I went north instead where it was more affordable, but increasingly less so.

My introduction to the west, in 1971 when I was pretty young, was the Colorado Rockies. I fell in love.

@CA_Hawthorne @crcollins

I grew up in Colorado and came east for my job. And yes, Colorado has become very expensive, probably too expensive for me as well. I miss the west, but I think I need to stay where I am.

@CA_Hawthorne

We moved to the SoCal desert to be near my mom when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It wasn't anywhere I expected to live though I attended U of A in Tucson as an undergrad & loved the desert there. Now that she's gone, we could go elsewhere I suppose, but the place has grown on us. And there's that moving thing ...ugh, I prefer to pass.

@joyce

@joyce

Moving is grueling. I've done it too much in my life. My kids are moving from Austin to SLC this summer, and I get exhausted just thinking about all the stuff they have to manage. 😵

@CA_Hawthorne

@crcollins @joyce Oh yes. I’m staying where I am, if humanly possible. It’s the best place for my health and still more affordable than much of the country.
@joyce i misunderstood this completely and was wondering why skipping was better than just walking ....
