I'm an accidental trendsetter. Or culture destroyer, take your pick. During gap year, I visited Japan with friends. We sat down to have our lunch in a small village. I put crisps in my sandwich & the locals were shocked & surprised. Went back last year, now they're all doing it.
@fesshole @jon you gotta amplify this trend!
@fesshole hope you set a trend for fesses about crisp sandwhiches as well, deffo peak British at any rate
@fesshole To think it all started with me doing it back in school, back in the day.

@fesshole

The rare wholesome confession. ^___^

@whybird @fesshole

I kinda love how so many responses were something along the lines of, "I thought I invented that!" ;)

Pretty sure nobody alive today invented putting chips/crisps inside of sandwiches. XD

@rl_dane @whybird @fesshole so does anyone else do pork pie sandwiches? I'm guessing I'm not original but never seen anyone else eat one. "Invented" it when I was about 11.

@russ @whybird @fesshole

I'm actually not familiar with pork pie! XD

Pork pie - Wikipedia

I seriously don't understand why meat pies are generally not a thing in the U.S.A.

We have pot pie (more of a stew-in-a-pie), but meat pies aren't very prevalent. There are kolaches, empanadas, arepas, and some meat pies, but they're all various cultural imports.

May also be a regional thing, I don't know.

I remember there was an episode of #NorthernExposure that was basically a dream sequence, and the doctor guy portrayed the role of some Soviet guy who was basically starving because it was the early Bolshevik era, and he was offered a meat pie and basically went to town on it before he caught himself and restored the illusion that he was just fine under the Bolsheviks and very much not starving (I don't know how accurate any of that was, so don't hold it against me, communist historians of fedi).

Anyway, that meat pie looked absolutely delicious, and now I'm hungry and I want one. XD

@rl_dane @whybird @fesshole I was wondering if you could get one shipped over from the UK... and then I found this: https://parkersgbi.com/search?q=pork%2Bpie&_pos=1&_psq=Pork%2Bpie&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Hope that helps 😀

@nowster @whybird @fesshole

I'd never heard of that exact combo, but it sounds a lot like undiluted lemonade.

@fesshole Convinced myself I coined the phrase "arsehole" when I was about 7 or 8. Nearly fell off my chair when I finally saw Beverly Hills Cop.
@fesshole nobody appreciates texture like the Japanese!
@fesshole You're doing God's work with this. You're basically an apostle
