When Reporters without Borders started measuring press freedom in 2002, the US was ranked 17th, which many thought was too low.

Under Trump the US is ranked 57th, just above Gambia, and Trump has now signed an executive order to defund NPR and PBS.

Sidenote: EO are contested in court a bunch and Trump is losing them a lot.

Other than that. Yes!
Sadly, anticipatory obedience is rampant, too.

defunding pbs and npr might be a good thing. basically gives independence from federal government. but it is not that simple. there is possible state funding and trump may threaten taxation status like in harvard case.

trump clearly wants to control all media, both private and public. too many have already bowed.
