"We cannot afford to replace the critical tasks of federal workers with models that completely make stuff up. There is no substitute for the expertise of federal workers handling sensitive information and working on life-critical sectors ranging from health care to immigration."

Replacing Federal Workers with Chatbots Would Be a Dystopian Nightmare

The Trump administration sees an AI-driven federal workforce as more efficient. Instead, with chatbots unable to carry out critical tasks, it would be a diabolical mess

@emilymbender I hate dealing with chat bots in any situation
@emilymbender There is a presupposition here that the people in charge want it to work, which is not true.
@emilymbender The problem with chatbots is that they have no intelligence and can only parrot back what they have learned by rote. They are often quite useless to interact with.
@emilymbender all missed the point. Chatbot can more easily coerced to follow orders, even if that would break laws. A human might still have a conscience.
Problems with hallucination is a burden but not the danger that is posed by law breaking automated federal work! That is really scary.
@emilymbender the ad I got served along with this article is really something
@emilymbender if you are the manager responsible for some department, try shouting at a misbehaving AI in order to change its behaviour.

@emilymbender I sincerely believe this rush towards uncapable ”AI” is not about efficiency or price, but elimination of human agency.

I would bet money on it, that we’re soon going to see industry psychopaths shilling out 5x or even 10x the price for machine learning systems that ”don’t talk back” at them, compared to the price of humans doing the same job better.

@emilymbender Ai is not neutral, impartial, or fair; it is programmed according to it's masters bias--who all happen to be eugenics loving gluttonaires. These systems will kill people, as middle man's who can take no responsibility for actions made against real, breathing LIVES.
@emilymbender "Would" is doing a lot of work there.
@emilymbender I fear the worst for Europe too. The @EUCommission is bragging all the time about how many billions they are gonna spend on AI and that they won't 'stay behind' this time. I mean, in what fantasy world are they living.
