If we make it to November 2026 without resignation, 25th amendment, or a soft or hard coup, there will only be one issue on the ballot: take both houses and immediately impeach both of them, and inaugurate President Jeffries and Vice President Booker. I do not see a soft landing or graceful exit.

@Cdespinosa Is it even mathematically possible, with the number of seats in contention, for Democrats to get the 2/3rds majority needed to convict in the Senate?

Because I very much doubt we'll get ANY Republicans to switch sides and sign off on that.

@jeff @Cdespinosa it is mathematically possible since there will be 20 Republican seats to be flipped, which would give them exactly 67 seats. In the real world, the only way I see this happening would be if social security and Medicare are literally gone, and the Dow is below 20K. And even then I would be hedging my bets.

@rudedog @jeff @Cdespinosa Win *every* Senate race in 2026, which includes Arkansas and Mississippi...

I think an individual that wants to end the Trump administration would be better off consulting Mario's brother.

It's going to be a tough 4 years. :(

@Cdespinosa honestly I doubt we'll have had enough pain even by then. Ask yourself how much damage and pain is needed for even 1/3 of MAGA to reject the GOP and vote Dem for a generation.

This needs to be cut out root and stem and the old ways of fixing their disasters hasn't worked.

They need to reap the whirlwind for a while and yeah that's going to have consequences for many many innocents.

Fix it too quickly and we just end up back where we started (as we have multiple times since the 80s)

@Cdespinosa yes but then we also need to imprison project 2025 people, Trump's cabinet and appointments, special government employees...

@Cdespinosa Fantasy land for sure.

Love to see it, but zero chance.

@Cdespinosa What about Trump declaring a state of emergency? I am iggnerent.
@Cdespinosa frankly, I'm fine with a Ceausescu style landing
@Cdespinosa If 47 tries to run for a third time surely 44 runs against him πŸ’₯
@Cdespinosa Cory Booker (the person you propose be the new VP) was on TV today talking about how much he liked working with Trump on the the First Step Act. He didn't sound like he was in the mood for a coup.
@Cdespinosa ehh... maybe there's still hope for a really good heart attack in there?
