After Donald Trump's tech bro takeover election it is clear regular people will stand to lose out with digital monopolies increasing their power, charging rent on everything we need to live our digital online lives, with our assets owned by them & our access suspect to deletion at any time, while enshittifying their services.

We need the digital equivalent of public roads, bridges and spaces!

Google Gemini will refuse to answer questions about #White #Wealthy #Conservative Politicians. #DeepSeek (Chinese), #Mistral (French), #Cohere (Canadian) may answer. It's more than a little fucked up that a society built on #FreeSpeech censors thought by biasing #InformationTools like #AI #LLM

Elon Musk & the like claiming they’re being limited is an idea dead on arrival.

Their ”freedom of speech” is someone else’s threat to their existence. That’s not freedom.

@gimulnautti You will find that with MANY #Libertarians. I used to consider myself one when I was young. My cousins and family still are: I call them #InchDeepLibertarians The problem with most #Libertarians is that their definition of #Freedom only extends as far as #TheEndOfTheirNose. I stopped being a #Libertarian when I got out of #TheBubbleOfPrivilege and traveled the world. Then, I understood that Libertarian is a euphemism for #SelfishMotherFucker

Sounds more like a caricature of libertarians than someone with any actual experience. If what you said were true, it should be hard to find libertarians that go out of their way to defend the rights of others. But it's not.

If I'm so "selfish", why did I spend years as a volunteer firefighter? Why am I a CERT member? Why do I donate blood as often as I'm allowed to?

@AlexanderKingsbury @gimulnautti There is a diagnosis in psychiatry called #AltruisticNarcissism or #CommunalNarcissism Many #Libertarians and people in the #HelpingProfessions (Firemen, EMTs, Doctors, Nurses, Pastors) could be diagnosed as this. They don't help because they are #Altruistic. They help because they get positive attention. It's a cover for their #Selfishness.

@AlexanderKingsbury @gimulnautti It takes years of therapy to undo the damage caused by narcissistic parents. And a lot of times there are still components that drag on. A lot of times those come out as #Kinks if they resolve in a healthy way.
