It’s probably not a good sign when your closest ally issues a travel warning against you.

Britain Issues Travel Warning for US

The change comes amid President Donald Trump's large-scale crackdown on illegal immigration.

@davidho
Just a note, not 9 months ago our closest ally was arguably Canada.
@davidho @jwz The Federated States of Micronesia has advised against travel to the US?
@davidho I thought Russia was the US' closest ally nowadays?

@davidho

It’s probably not a good sign when your closest ally detains your citizens and locks them in prison instead of putting them on the next plane back to you.

@13reak @davidho
I understand that members of the UK Subs travelling to LA for a gig were refused entry this week.
How many more have been rejected that we're not hearing about?
@davidho I think ”ex-ally” is more appropriate at this point…

@davidho

Well that is clear isn't it....

Germany tightens travel advice to US after three citizens detained

The country's foreign ministry clarified the updated guidance doesn’t constitute an official travel warning to the US. #EuropeNews

@davidho I thought Canada was the USA's closest ally. But then I remembered the Canada/US trade war happening.

@davidho

Its probably not a good sign when progressive Americans have embraced the Trumpian idea that Canada is not their closest ally.

@davidho @markcarney #PMMC #CdnPoli It’s time for Canada 🇨🇦 to do the same. Be warned that you can be arrested, detained and held indefinitely without due process. No Canadian travelling to, or passing through the US, is protected from this arbitrary detention. Even with all your papers and documents in order, if #ICE decides to search your phone, iPad, etc. and discovers articles, comments, discussions that speak against #donald, you are at risk.
@davidho It's a good sign, if your goal is isolation. The MAGA vibe is very isolationist.
@davidho the implications are massive because travel insurance usually does not extend to countries for which a travel warning has been issued by the British government
@peterbrown @davidho I don't think this is the category of warning you describe. It looks like the standard guidance with updated emphasis and detail, not an advisory against travel -- but if I'm wrong, I'd be very interested to get a source for that!
@iris @davidho Notaclue. I recently bought an annual travel policy and I remember there was references to travel advisories, but you’re probably right. This would probably not trigger an invalidation of the travel insurance.
In any event, I’m not going there.
@davidho This information does not seem to be accurate: The UK’s travel advice for the USA was last updated 7 days ago. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/usa
USA travel advice

@davidho
It’s pretty weak, as travel warnings go. I’m waiting for something like: “Travel to the USA is discouraged at this time due to upheavals in the government that have resulted in the detention, abuse, and deportation of foreign visitors. If travel to the USA is required, travelers are advised to consult Special Bulletin FM-2025-027 for additional guidance. Note that all electronic devices such as phones and laptops are subject to examination by US authorities. Criticism of the US President is not tolerated.”

Goodbye, #freedomofspeech

@davidho Britain ain't Gilead's closest ally, the Special Relationship was something cooked up in Whitehall to convince Brits we were still relevant after WWII

When Israel issues a travel warning, that'll be 'Gilead's closest ally' giving a warning.

Gilead couldn't give a single fuck about our Island, we're nobody.

@davidho Actually, the United Snakes closest Ally is the Israeli colonial project.
