Another AI argument: "I'm studying Japanese and asked Claude to make flashcards based on the grammar points in my Japanese textbook, and it did in minutes what it would have taken me hours"
What if I told you that the act of making the flashcards is studying? When I went through the Naval Nuclear Program I went through a very similar process of making flashcards for all the things we would be tested on. I never actually had to use the cards. Making them was all I needed to do to sufficiently remember.
There is no way to optimize your way out of the learning process. It always takes the same amount of effort in the end.

As a veteran of long-haul flights, I don’t see how anything short of lay-flat beds would be more than a superficial gesture. And there’s no way that would be both safety compliant and economical for ordinary passengers
A 20h direct flight between Europe and Australia will always be a punishing option. You’d do it when there’s a wedding/funeral you need to urgently be at, but otherwise, breaking your flight at a decent airport is a feature, not a problem.
Some good news from the UK: Andy Burnham won his by-election (not unexpected), and it wasn’t even close: he did so with 55% of the vote, 20 more than the Faragist candidate. The kleptofascists together (ReformUK LLC and the Musk-backed racial-nationalists) got only 42%.
With such a thumping mandate, hopefully he’ll have a clear shot at the Labour leadership now.
