I'm dying over here. This guy says he's created the world's first AI-based call center for actively disrupting and screwing with scammers. Their AI bots are taking live phonecalls at scale and keeping the scammers on the line for hours, and sometimes taunting the scammers. They're tying up entire scam call centers. So entertaining.

I Built a Bot Army that Scams Scammers

YouTube
@briankrebs This might be the killer use case for this otherwise generally odious tech.
@briankrebs kitboga is fantastic. I discovered him while down and out from my second covid vaccine way back.
@briankrebs if you have not come across him before, he streams on twitch. Voice changers, custom python or similar scripting hooked up to voip etc. can be hilarious listening to scammers get so frustrated with his personas

@briankrebs

That's a use case I can get behind.

@briankrebs I've been following his attempts at this for a few years. His earlier versions are hilarious. I'm glad he's finally having some success.

@briankrebs Ah, you have to have a Youtube account to see this.

I have de-Googled, so 🤷

@tasket That sounds complicated. I'd love to hear about your harrowing experience.

@briankrebs I never really "Borged-up" to begin with. I deleted my Google accounts and the harrowing parts are:

  • Youtube videos don't play 3/4 of the time, as of about 6 weeks ago.

  • Couldn't get the T-Mobile compat. voicemail app to work from the Aurora store. I can see when voicemail is waiting, but I have to dial-in to hear it.

  • Banks sometimes give the impression you must use their app. In my experience, its a ruse and the idea you can't do banking on a PC is absurd.

I use exactly one Play-dependent app via Aurora. It works fine without a Google login. Everything else comes from Fdroid. SMS also works fine, unfortunately.

@briankrebs @tasket Nope, plays fine on Librewolf with uBlock Origin on Mullvad VPN without an account.
@tasket @briankrebs On a de-Googled mobile device, you can use NewPipe https://f-droid.org/packages/org.schabi.newpipe to view this video.

@tasket @briankrebs you literally don't need a YouTube account.

I'm pretty sure YouTube doesn't require an account for watching, but I would like to introduce you to https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

@lackthereof @tasket Yes it does and yt-dlp will not help, they implemented IP block and forces you to login.

I can watch videos on LTE, but not from my home network for instance.

@tasket @briankrebs He live streams this on Twitch. https://www.twitch.tv/kitboga

@briankrebs I sw hs one yesterday. Truly the only legit use for Gen ai bots
@briankrebs kitboga my absolute beloved

 Sounds like a high-tech version of the old fashioned response to scams sent via fax, endless reply using a loop of paper.

@jwi @briankrebs

Extra points if it was a loop of black paper.

'AI Granny' is happy to talk with phone scammers all day | TechCrunch

@briankrebs I cannot stop laughing at this. The comments pointed me to their separate AI Kitboga channel for calls.

@briankrebs @puppygirlhornypost2 oh I love kitboga, so glad he's still doing good work

@briankrebs
“Did you hear about deeze nuts?”

Priceless

@briankrebs kitboga is the GOAT!!
@briankrebs And just when you thought there was no meaningful use of AI.... I stand corrected.
@briankrebs Yeah, I’ve seen his live streams on Twitch—absolutely hilarious!
@briankrebs finally... A good use of AI!
Kitboga is great. Some of his videos where he uses a voice changer to toy with scammers are hilarious.

@mookie @briankrebs

He has so many amazing videos. The ones where he uses Password Game as a captcha, and his own bitcoin redemption website are god tier levels of trolling.

@briankrebs Put AI to it's good uses!
@briankrebs
for every ONE of these well-meaning geniuses, there are smart a-holes who will figure out how to use this brilliant tech against his purpose.
Glad it seems to be working in the moment.

@briankrebs I remember a year or two ago someone had a lot of success with an "old man" recording they'd forward their calls to.

"...what? ...oh, could you repeat that? ...you know who's good with this sort of thing? My niece, I think she's 24 this year...no wait, her birthday is in December so I think it's 25..." etc.

@jerry
@briankrebs if you are not familiar with Kitboga, he messes with these scammers live on stream (Twitch IIRC) because (again IIRC) his grandmother got scammed by one.

He is an entertainer, but I also think he is sincere in his hatred of scam callers. As someone else already posted, he is the GOAT

@briankrebs always been a fan of him. I found him a year or two ago and I'm surprised I never came across him earlier, given what I do for a living.
@briankrebs sponsored by kraken (big crypto trading platform) lol... cue spider mans pointing at each other picture.
@briankrebs I might have posted this before, but at one point I got a crank call from some bozo who was mad that all I would talk about with a "telemarketer" was about the do-not-call list and who gave them my phone number.
@briankrebs Thankfully I can finally retire from doing this manually.
@briankrebs now this is a good use of ai lol
@briankrebs Ah - take me back to the 80's.
@briankrebs Oh god not these cringe ass posts on mastodon too
