Weather.com and your favorite weather apps won't exist if we shutter NOAA. They don't have the resources or expertise or the motivation to do so. Governments exist not to turn a profit, but to serve the people. Sometimes that means spending on things that don't make sense to you.
Our elected 'leaders' are letting this hostile takeover happen with barely a whimper in protest. If the president controls the executive in full with no oversight and can withhold and divert congressionally appropriated funding as desired with no regard for science, health, lives, or the law let's let Musk hack away at your jobs cause you sure as fuck aren't doing anything.

And while Europe is pretty good on weather, too, the missing data collection from northern america will severely limit its possibilities - especially the missing satellite data will hurt (Europe has its own - but those are watching Europe).
