@organicmaps @skry Yep. Interesting AND important. Great app.
@organicmaps really liking it so far. Any plans for transit support?

@organicmaps I don't know why other ppl use @organicmaps, but I'm gonna tell my story.
I like hiking a lot, but sadly I'm not really a good hiker ;).

So a couple of months ago, I was in the mountains doing some hiking, and for some external reasons I had to change the route.

So there was no mobile signal, no route signals, no marked paths. Funny situation :).

There was only one option. I opened #organicMaps with the previously downloaded map offline, and searched for a new route. I found a new trail, and everything end nice and safe.

Organic maps, is a fantastic map app. And it is, right now, a must-have tool for me.

Thanks.

@ZBennoui Other than simpathesizing with the idea, do you have some experience with #screenReader #accessibility of @organicmaps please?
Possono solo migliorare

@organicmaps I myself use #Osmand because I like tinkering with thousands of config items and I am not intimidated by multiple nested menu trees.

But I installed and recommended #OrganicMaps for other people who are less techy and just appreciate a clean and easy map/nav app. So thumbs up! 👍 Great project!

@organicmaps If only there was a way to zoom in freely without having to download tens of megabytes of map data for the entire region first. As it stands, it’s great for going hiking or something preplanned, but has too much friction to replace Apple/Google Maps (or even OSM in a web browser)

@organicmaps

And it still uses the Gulf of Mexico!...

@organicmaps (please add alt text to your posts.... Mastodon in an inclusive platform, which means adding alt text to images is important.

@PhotographyElf already provided alt text in the replies, please edit your post and add it to it.

And ideally add an alt text to your images when posting it directly

@thibaultmol @PhotographyElf @organicmaps Thank you. As someone who is totally blind, I truly appreciate that.
@dandylover1 no worries! It's nice how accessible fedi already is compared to other platforms. (honestly hadn't even considered alt text much for social posts before mastodon)
