Hi Mastodon! I'm Fe and I'm working on a game called Nechromia! It's a survival horror with a high contrast look that's at the beginning of it's development. Will try to keep more active here :) Thanks! #gamedev #lowpoly #nechromia #survivalhorror

@2dchaos

Oh, oh damn, I definitely need to keep an eye on this one!

Looking forward to seeing how this one develops!

@ishambard Thank you! I'll post more development soon!
@2dchaos getting some Alone In The Dark vibes from this animation. I assume from your game name that colors play a significant role in the gameplay here?
@oblomov oh, I love Alone in the Dark! Yes, they do, enemies react to the colors and they are gonna be used for puzzles too :)
@2dchaos nice!
If you ever need the opinion of a red/green colorblind person on anything feel free to ping me.
@oblomov That would be very helpful, I'm planning accessibility features for colorblindness in the game and your opinion would definitely help! Thank you!
@oblomov Here you can see the color system starting to work!
@2dchaos this looks amazing, good luck with the development
@bd thank you so much!!
@2dchaos looks interesting! Following you for updates and best of luck!
@2dchaos Love it. Gives me old school ZX Spectrum vibes. Any chance you are going to use 8-bit chiptune music? :)
@r2auk thanks!! I'm undecided about the music yet, but it's a good idea, didn't think about going that way with the sounds!
@2dchaos Ooh ZX Spectrum and pulp noir fiction vibes, I like it!
@freequaybuoy Thanks! I really oughta check the ZX Spectrum, I was a MSX kid hahah!
@2dchaos Was my Dad's first computer. Loved it. To use a joystick for games like Sabre Wulf you had to wire up colour coded crocodile clips!
@2dchaos looks great ! Keep going !
@2dchaos I love how the shadows are just pitch black in some places. It really adds to the horror anxiety, because you have zero idea what's under the table until you point the light at it. I have a very important question though, free movement or tank controls? :P
@blipcast The monsters take advantage of this, some will be pitch black, others colorful and camouflaged in the environment! XD Fun stuff! Great question, for now Tank Controls while exploring with Free Movement while locked in with the lantern on monsters :D
@blipcast Here's a quick demo of how the lantern works for now while locked in.
@2dchaos Oh, that's really cool! I've never seen tank controls paired with a target lock system. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes!
@blipcast Thanks! It worked well with my personal tests so far, makes aiming more natural, but I'll have to see how players will react to it. XD
@2dchaos That looks a lot like Alone in the Dark from 1992, where the fixed camera brought half of the horror.
@pianosaurus It's certainly one of the inspirations, that was a really good(and scary) game!

@2dchaos

That aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous.

@tacitus thank you so much! <3
@2dchaos I love your style! 😍
@allanon Ah, thank you so much!! Your game looks so lovely, I dig the style so much too!
