@terrymatz dare I ask my mum for this for Christmas....?!
@Niall I think it's worth asking. Even if she says no, she'll probably get a laugh from seeing the sweater.
@terrymatz @sundogplanets I want to take up knitting just so I can make this!
@ramsey @terrymatz @sundogplanets
Make the design as a muffler. It would be much more likely to get done, fit well and keep you warm. (As you learn stitch tension)
@EugestShirley @ramsey @sundogplanets Interesting idea. I think you could just do the front of the front of the sweater and then maybe continue the gray and the orange for either end. I did check the Ravelry projects and no one had adapted it for a scarf but someone had done a hat!

@terrymatz @ramsey @sundogplanets
To make it as a muffler/neck-wrap you would have to choose a number of stitches across, then eliminate the increasing and decreasing used to shape an armhole.
It needs to be 2x longer but narrower than a sweater.
drawing the design on a graph paper would help decide what needs to be trimmed off the sides to keep the key part of the idea.

You have a choice of using a smaller yarn weight to get a smaller sized picture with more of the sides showing. That means choosing the right needles too.

The design doesn't need to be repeated on the other side for a man's scarf.

Finished the edges well to keep the scarf from curling.
Fringe the ends.

@terrymatz oh my! It's perfect. 🤩
@terrymatz I wonder how many people there are that can't knit but would wear that sweater
@bird Maybe it will encourage them to learn to knit! If not, I always recommend checking with a local independent yarn store to see if they know anyone local who will do custom knits. It would not be cheap though!
@terrymatz Dang ! I need this sweater !
@terrymatz I haven't knitted anything since I was 8 years old, but I am considering taking it up again for this sweater.
@SiliconFarmer It is a basic sweater in stockinette so that's good. The intarsia colorwork is the challenge. I encourage you take up the needles again. Knitting is a great stress reliever which we all need right now.
@terrymatz THIS, but in #TunisianCrochet I just can’t knit.
@terrymatz But maybe knooking insted. I need knooking needles now.
@terrymatz omg this is glorious!
@terrymatz so I made this! I first saw the pattern here, loved it and made it (and the pattern is fantastically written). My advice to anyone making it would be - make a shorter sleeved version than you think you will need and be prepared to spend as long on the embroidery as on the knitting!
@popchicken Wow! That's amazing. You did an incredible job. Thank you for the tips on knitting the sweater too. I'll keep that in mind when I knit it. (I did post this pattern before on Mastodon so I'd like to think it was my post that inspired you!)
@terrymatz It might well have been (back at the start of 2023 maybe?)? As soon as I saw it I knew I had to give it a go!
@terrymatz I guess it's finally time to learn how to knit then. 😃
