Friction Quick Tip #7 - Parent/Child tranform effect

In friction, you can setup a layer to be the child of another.
It is the equivalent of the whip parenting in #aftereffect

Do you know @friction ? It is an awesome open source 2d animation software, early stage, which could replace #aftereffect

@tonton @friction In Blender 3D you can parent objects together by selecting the children objects first and then selecting the parent object last. Then press Ctrl-P and the "Set Parent To" menu will pop up allowing you to link objects together.

Parenting Objects - Blender 4.3 Manual

@textovervideo @friction
Yep i know, what is your point ? get that into friction to create the transform effect with a shortcut ?
@tonton @friction A shortcut for parenting objects/layers in Friction would be nice. Parenting seems like a common task in 2D/3D.
@textovervideo @friction
Yes this could definitely help with ux
Do not hesitate to file feature request in the github if you want :)

@tonton @friction Friction already has Group (Ctrl+G) and Ungroup (Ctrl+Shft+G) shortcuts.

Shortcuts

Friction is a powerful and versatile motion graphics application that allows you to create vector and raster animations for web and video.

@textovervideo @friction

Yes of course, but this is not the same usage, with an animated character for example :

- A group will allow user to move two (or more) layers together, the entire character could be in this group

- A parenting will allow user to move parent object and have child follow (shoulder for example would be the parent of the forearm to have it rotate accordingly)

@tonton @textovervideo @friction I know github is the place to discuss this, but just as a chat. It would be fantastic to allow for custom keymaps, which probably already exist actually:) Then you could adopt Blender shortcuts, for example. In this way you have a large amount of users that need no introduction into the ways "friction" works, they can simply transfer over this muscle memory. #freecad does something link this, and it reduces the learning curve drastically.
@lps @tonton @textovervideo We first need support for custom shortcuts, the plan is to get that working in v1.1. Custom keymaps/bindings (from other apps) could then be introduced as presets/plugins.
