Ha, cat! I have RECEIPTS!
a@hellomiakoda @catsalad I had a cat before and he always had a bowl of dry food and he ate when he wanted. He didn't get fat or anything. His teeth were in great shape always, because dry food is good for teeth. He had wet food once or twice a week or randomly for a treat. He had perfect teeth at 13 when he died because of vaccine caused carsinoma (cats should never be vaccinated in the neck, always in limb). I never brushed his teeth.
@hellomiakoda @bhasic @catsalad Itβs actually good. Cats donβt have a strong thirst drive and are meant to derive most of their hydration from their food. The high rate of cat kidney disease is in part due to them being chronically dehydrated. Cats donβt chew their food anyway, so hard food doesnβt do anything to clean their teeth.
Also, whatβs that app youβre using?? Our cat is very guilty of the βI havenβt been fedβ scam.
Home Assistant.
I used the Variable integration to store time stamps as sensors.
If you are interested, when I have a little energy, I'll put together how I set this up.
I don't have the option enabled at this time, but I could (and want to) easily put a Zigbee button by the place we feed him to trigger the "Log Meal" action. I often forget to go in the app and tap it.
The report lost button sends a message to my Telegram AND announces it with sound, and then sends his chip data, recent photo, and the phone numbers to report him lost with the chip place, to the group chat., and of course, changes "Lost?" to Lost with a time stamp.

@catsalad
Ours come and get us and then lead us to various places of our apt, sometimes itβs to get, water from the bathroom faucet. The catfood scam is real though.
They are so picky too, βoh no not that kind again, I had that a week ago!β

WARNING!!!
Dogs do this too!
Like literally last night, I got home from a walk and my cousin noted that the dogs heard me coming and were barking like mad to be fed.
I had just fed them an hour earlier.
"No, dogs. You don't get food just because I 'came home' (again)."
And really, I do this *every* weeknight -- an hour long walk after feeding the dogs. You think they'd "know" by now. π
I wonder what this cat could possibly want.

@catsalad ALERT UPDATE - this scam has crossed species into dogs!
Just tell them "I'm on to your shabby little game..."
I will always fall for that. Happily.
Usually, they work in pairs or groups.
Somehow, They victimized me.
Every day...
