UPDATE - FUNDRAISING GOAL HAS BEEN REACHED!!

Plea for #emergency #MutualAid to help get our car fixed & 2 extra nights accommodation while we wait for repairs to be done.

Parts/services cost from Miles Automotive in Parksville is $2161.47 - after taxes to repair.

The front brakes & rotors blew, battery was weak & it died too. I'm upset because I spent $1800 only 3 weeks ago for full checkup/tuneup & got oil/fluids changed too, in Victoria & was told the car was all good except that battery is old & needs to be replaced. Nothing about the brakes.
I had saved up for those recent car mechanic services. I only have enough in bank account for mortgage & hydro payments, municipal water bill & medications for me & Mom.

The suite owners here are willing to let us stay 2 more nights with no taxes at reduced rate due to car breakdown emergency - $90/night.

Mom & I would really appreciate any financial assistance right now to help pay for costs above & help us get ourselves & car back home.
I have enough cash on hand to pay for our foods & the pricey taxi fare back to mechanics on Monday morning.

All the unexpected stress from car breakdown & related expenses threw Mom's health into scary high blood pressure zones yesterday & this morning. The compassionate folks here have directly contributed to not only our car repair & getting us back home rescue - you have helped to lower Mom's blood pressure down to less scary levels & helped lower my anxieties about Mom, while I'm trying to get us help to get home. I am extremely thankful for all of the kindness 🙏❤️

Mega big thank yous - to every person who donated & boosted our emergency donations mutual aid fundraiser to get car fixed & get us home safely on Monday.

We've reached our goal!
Donations received between PayPal & 4 etransfers since yesterday total -> $2332.52.

The extra funds will be put towards Mom's medication costs for prescription pickup on Tuesday.

I'll update when we pickup car on Monday & until we safely arrive back home.

@PhoenixSerenity hope what I sent helps a bit (although it probably would only pay for one disc). Bloody annoying the mechanics /didn't/ check the discs and pads for a what should be a full service - its literally a 5 minute job to check those..

@vfrmedia Yeah, considering I'd paid close to $2000 for full service checks & full tune up. Only to have car breakdown 3 weeks later. I'm trying to stay calm & help my Mom lower increased blood pressure spike from yesterday's misfortunes. She is panicking about being stuck up here & lack of funds.
