How you wash your hair in space: demonstrated by astronaut Karen Nyberg on the International Space Station.
@wonderofscience Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit gravity.
@wonderofscience how am I getting this OnlyFans for free?
@wonderofscience For sure I would shave my head and save me the trouble while in space. Hair grows back pretty fast.
@wonderofscience This is awesome ! I do this to my hair with the air compressor nozzle sometimes on hot summer days on Earth too, but without the "product" 😎

@wonderofscience

so it's like camping

but in a tin can and without gravity

@wonderofscience Making the switch from liquid to bar shampoo was challenging; it took three or four washes to get it right. But THIS??

It's unlikely I'll ever have a chance to live in zero G, but if I do I'm getting a buzz cut before I leave Earth.

@wonderofscience basically how mermaids wash their hair but with less water.
@wonderofscience I would just shave so I could stop wondering if I was drinking chemicals from the no rinse shampoo later. 🤢

@wonderofscience I just don’t get how we haven’t mastered the idea of showers in space. Make water spray out the front, have an air intake at the back that goes to a condenser/dehumidifier…. To dry off… Compressed air, like a human sized Dyson air blade.

I’ve been camping and not showered for a week or two… But I could always just dunk my head in the river, even if it was “brisk”. I can’t imagine not showering for months at a time.

@JustinDerrick @wonderofscience That's basically how the Skylab shower worked. It was reportedly quite effective for cleaning, but keeping the water under control was a pain. Showering took about two and a half hours per person, what with the need to track down every stray drop that escaped from the vacuum/separator system.
@JustinDerrick @wonderofscience how to drown your astronauts in 1 simple step

@JustinDerrick @wonderofscience

I'm sure we could, but is it worth the engineering effort and water consumption? People have been giving themselves sponge baths for centuries. They work as well in space as on the ground.

@wonderofscience y not get a crew haircut for space 🚀
@wonderofscience I’m waiting for the conspiracy theorists … “this is ALL fake, she’s just hanging upside down” #flatearthers
@wonderofscience
They found her blond hairs in the filters long after she left the station
@wonderofscience looks like a pain in the butt
@wonderofscience how come we never learned about this in sci-fi movies!?
This is the one and only Space Karen, peeps 🤓
@wonderofscience Imagine when the submarine effect kicks in and someone starts complaining about all the hair clogging up the drain.
@wonderofscience This is so interesting! But her hair is making me chuckle
@wonderofscience I'm impressed by the fact, you can spill water in this place without causing any issues. Is it recycled or something? What about humidity, mould and so on?
@schattenspringer @wonderofscience
She said that in the video, the water is condensed out of the air by the air control system and processed into drinking water again.
@Hippie @wonderofscience Thanks. Watched it muted. Truly amazing!
@wonderofscience
How I want to see more of this happening, not the active anti-social behaviour of insurance companies.
@wonderofscience For me, the procedure would be much simpler. ☝️
@wonderofscience It's funny because you're basically styling yourself like one of those little troll dolls. Made me smile.
@wonderofscience imagine lots of hairs floating around. With gravity, they would end in the floor, but there would be floating around forever. Do they have anything to deal with them? Like a a static duster to attract them or similar?
@wonderofscience this is a serious question. Would it be possible to have humans having sex in space in a zero gravity environment? Could you please explain it in scientific terms? Thank you

@wonderofscience

Economical use of ressources you can learn from ISS! Beginning with using towls for several times. And with recycling of waste water and even urine to drinking water 😎.

@wonderofscience I wonder how Afro Hair would react. Would it pull out the curl pattern? If someone knows pls reply super curious
