Do you add alt-text to your images?
@Methylcobalamin @AlinaLeonova
Same here
@HunterAnton @Methylcobalamin @AlinaLeonova
Or using altbot. Example:
Attached: 1 image "Speak through me, Y'ffre. Tell us of the drum-play of Mara, who beat out a pulse against the darkness that gnawed Old Ehlnofey. Mara, whose eyes glitter like hot coals, known of mer and knowing mer, mother of a thousand-thousand children. She who looks at Arkay's form and does not blush, but breathes deep the scent of Him." --The Green Singing
Actually it's a beautiful and interesting challenge, even the PITA effect itself.
:)
I have a feeling you misread my comment. I was only explaining what PITA means to answer a question, not stating my feelings on alt=text. It was somebody else who used it for that
I mentioned wrong, just changed the order.
sry
In any case my comment wasn't mend to address or interpret feelings but a simple statement on creating #ALTtext themself and the:
"Ohh no, I'm in such a hurry to toot my world saving information and have to add some picture description .. :( "
ALT-text isn't a simple image description for me anymore, it adds more content and interpretation and even adds character length to some toot's.

Oh, then I voted wrong, because that's what I do too. Recently diagnosed ND because of serious lack of daily spoons, also vision impaired, and in no way interested being harassed for not providing alt texts, so no pictures from me. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
What does ND mean? The spoon reference? I got lazy once and posted a slightly complex infographic without alt text. It would have taken a long time to describe everything in it. A sighted person complained, so I deleted the post. End result, nobody got to have it.
I'm not saying that should be the way things are. If a 1-2 line alt text adequately describes an image I do not. Visual humor and infographics require doing a lot more writing, so I don't post those.
To put it more briefly, having only images with alt text can be done 2 ways. Putting alt text in all images or not posting images. I often choose the second option as I am lazy and I would feel bad posting images without alt text.
@Methylcobalamin @AlinaLeonova
Another thing I seriously love about the alt text enforcers is the hypocrisy.
My ND situation inhibits my attention span so I can't just listen or watch to a stream of linear media from the beginning to the end. But it also enables me to read very fast and to take in and process informations in a quicker than average way. So my preferred way of accessing media is reading.
I've never had anyone even reply to my request for a transcript of their media.
Please add "Almost"...
I'm getting better from image to image to not forget to add a sufficient Alt-Text.
I selected "Always" cause it's definitely the goal I'll reach.
Good Alt-Text is, even for me as a sighted person, a very useful enhancement.
@AlinaLeonova almost always :-)
I actually enjoy doing it, and have discovered it as sort of an art form of its own :)

Does your question include users from other platforms, even though you mention Mastodon exclusively?
