In more details, this new version allows you to better deal with distance matrices as inputs (bootstrapping, etc. can now be done on rows AND columns). Or, if your metric involves calculating distance matrices, this new version allows to store the distance calculations in the RAM and avoid recalculating distances for every subset or bootstrap.
