The classic Reagan doctrine was drown the baby in the bathtub by cutting social spending.

You can turn that on its head and do the same thing to corporate profits!

1) Delete your Amazon account.
2) Delete your Ebay account.
3) Donโ€™t buy a Tesla. If you have one, sell if feasible. This will help collapse its market value.
4) Limit discretionary spending as much as possible.

5) Save if you can. Old-fashioned savings bonds $25
6) Shop locally owned biz. Keep out of chains.
7) Shop co-ops and local markets.
8) Prepare food from staple ingredients.
9) Keep that car parked! Adopt the WWII principle "is this trip really necessary?"
10) Grow a garden, even a small one.

Remember this is a war against oligarchic fascism. You must starve the corporate beast.

11) Call in sick whenever you can get away with it.
12) Donโ€™t do free work. Do only what you're paid to do.
13) Practice stealth loafing on the job.
14) Constantly keep your resume in circulation and quit for higher pay if you can.
15) Consider working fewer hours or quitting altogether. Reducing your ersatz "standard of living" will make you healthier and wiser.

@JoeChip I always intentionally misspell their names, it reduces their internet presence. ๐Ÿค“
@JoeChip Stupid NS just voted in another bible thumper premier. Don't people ever learn?

@JoeChip

You're missing the other half of the equation entirely: the One Percent employs the same people who are also consumers of the goods and services that are produced by the corporations they own and control. So what if someone doesn't buy a Tesla? What other vehicle are they going to buy that isn't also produced by a corporation also owned by another billionaire? The One Percent exploits people coming and going, first by underpaying them and then by effectively getting a chunk of that same money back as corporate profit.

The only way to break the hold of the One Percent is to stop working for them.

@VulcanTourist
If you need a vehicle, buy an older used model that's easy to repair. Pay your shade-tree mechanic buddy for whatever work it needs.

What you're saying is true, but there must be baby steps for most people to begin this journey.

Shade-tree mechanics are scarce around here.

All I can think of to say is do what you can do right now. It's true every opportunity won't be available to everyone in equal measure.

But we're going to be called on to do a lot more as the world deteriorates. I prefer to think in terms of what I can do rather than what I can't do.

@VulcanTourist @JoeChip I keep thinking about something Naomi Kline said in "No Logo" about how you can't escape Globalization. It's been 20 years or so since I read it but it boiled down to, "you do what you can anyway".

I cancelled my Prime account and won't buy from Amazon if I can avoid it. I also cancelled Spotify and moved to Deezer. Working on as many other things as I can when I can. I'm looking at Open Secrets before deciding who I'm giving my money to from now on.

@Unsightly3055 @JoeChip

Doing what we can won't end the dominance and exploitation. It will require a revolution, as it always has in the past.

Window-shop at Amazon and then go to the manufacturer's website to buy. Usually you can find the same price there, often with some coupons to sweeten the deal further.

I have saved hundreds of dollars that way.

@Unsightly3055 @VulcanTourist @JoeChip

@andytiedye @VulcanTourist @JoeChip it's the new Best Buy -> Amazon hustle ๐Ÿ˜‚ But dare we... Best Buy -> Amazon -> OEM?
@JoeChip This is a great idea. I would love to starve Amazon, but, being disabled, I rely on it heavily. I don't use eBay, I don't own a Tesla, and I can limit discretionary spending. So, I am with you to that extent.
