Off to Washington DC from #PennStation #Moynihan train hall. Displays for local Long Island services and #Amtrak services are separate from each other. Generally many processes seem to be similar to airlines, maybe because that's the American reference point as to how long distance travel should work?

...airline similarity is even more striking in the slightly old, but clean #Acela Express 2205 to Washington Union Station. Overhead lockers, the seat design, the way seats are numbered... And announcements:

"We'd like to extend a special welcome to our Amtrak Select customers."

"Take a moment to review the safety card in the seat pocket in front of you."

Let's go!

Between New York and New Jersey...

Something a bit weird: the armrest to the side is higher than the one in the middle - which seems too low for my arm length. It makes you sit leaning either way. Doesn't feel balanced.

Spotted in #Philly.

Some more interior impressions of the #AcelaExpress. I like details like a free water dispenser.
Bathroom is fairly generously designed. And the faucet is like one in a home. Funny. #AcelaExpress
Acela CafΓ©. Unsurprisingly expensive with a similar price level to Western Europe. Nice bar seating arrangements. #Acela #Amtrak
Gained quite some speed before #Wilmington #Delaware. Overtook what I believe is an #Amtrak Northeastern Regional service.

#Baltimore - not much to see from the train except this nice MARC double decker.

#Amtrak #AcelaExpress #Acela #EastCoast

Encountering another MARC in #BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. It has a bike car, how progressive.
#Baltimore #Diesel

Note the funny but slightly directive announcement on my train: "This is the 2205, THIS IS NOT MARC. 2205 TICKET ONLY. IF YOU HAVE A GOLDEN OR RED TICKET STEP OFF! THIS IS NOT YOUR TRAIN"
