Bill Detail - Delaware General Assembly

Last night, a resolution (Shané Darby) passed in Wilm City Council calling for a "halt [of] any forced removal or closure of the Christina Park encampment ... until a comprehensive, humane, and adequately funded transition plan is fully operational.

Public comments were many, strong, and inspiring. However, the resolution has no teeth. The mayor will do what he wants. 2/3

Delaware has an affordable housing shortage, and it's most visible in Wilmington, Dover, and Georgetown. https://spotlightdelaware.org/tag/homelessness/
The mayor of Wilmington decided to make "camping" illegal everywhere but one city park (in an underserved area, of course), and in mid-May, he gave notice that come June 15, "camping" there would become illegal, too. How convenient that now everyone is in one place. 1/3
