GGLast night, #DougFord and his #Ontario Place tsarina finally “got it done.” Under cover of darkness, heavy machinery began levelling the entire stand of 850 mature trees on the West Island...clearing public waterfront parkland for a private spa nobody wants...to fulfill a secret century-long deal with a Austrian waterpark developer.
The secret 100-year lease with the Austrian spa company that #DougFord has signed would cost $30-million to kill, if done in the next few months.
👉 But will be almost impossible to cancel once construction is under way, requiring a 15 year wait and hundreds of millions.
This is a terrible deal for the people of #Ontario. No wonder the Ford #Conservative govt refused to release the details until it was too late to stop the deal.

with a few exceptions Ford has been above +10 since the election, and since July swung from 18 to 11 back to 15. I don't know if those are meaningful differences, but I expect it still translates to a comfortable majority if there was an election today.

I have more confidence that the Greens will pull a United Farmers style victory than the NDP forming government. The NDP have destroyed the trust of their base and I don't see them rebuilding it for the next election. The reason why Rae still has a political fortune is that he learned from his mistakes, while the ONDP did not.

@Vegematic Doug does consider the spa healthcare. Its being sold as a family wellbeing & entertainment destination. Plus he's throwing in a mini Science Centre to fill the education quota. /s
