The NYPD shot a Black man yesterday over not paying a $2.90 fare.

Four bystanders were also shot, including an innocent person shot in the head in critical condition.

And naturally the cops had a friendly fire incident injury a cop too boot.

The Gothamist has an article and while its well written and the situation seems quite serious they seem to fail to call this what it was...

A mass shooting attack on civilians carried out by the NYPD.

How does it make sense to escalate a fucking subway fare into a mass fucking shooting?

New Yorkers have been protesting the police shooting by hopping the turnstyles at subway stations and chanting "fuck the NYPD".

#nypd #nyc #DerellMickles #F12

Pretty disgusting they are charging Mickles for fare evasion and fighting the cops. Actually pursuing charges is quite the statement of support for this type of cowboy policing.

Last night the NYPD released video footage of the cop shooting which left 4 people seriously injured on the subway.

The AP reports "they shot at him as he was standing still, his arms by his side and his back to a train."

And if you look closely at the video showing people entering the train station, other people ALSO jump the turnstiles within seconds of the man cops decided to chase.

@nullagent on top of all the other unnecessary blunders that led to this incident they managed to cause all this collateral damage by missing a stationary target at close range? 🄓
@nullagent I want the footage of them ā€œrendering aidā€ to the guy

@nullagent Pretty clear Mays is who hit the guy a train car down, from that other video.

I didn’t see why they shot.

@nullagent They routinely do this to people they injure or kill. It gives them cover for their actions. When Jacob Blake was in the hospital, PARALYZED from the waist down after being shot in the back by cops, they had him handcuffed to his bed.

If it’s just ā€œa few bad applesā€ then why is this happening all the time in police departments across the nation? šŸ¤”

@mls14 @nullagent because the bad apples spoil the whole barrel
@nullagent
Is there a video record of what happened, or did every camera in the vicinity fail?
@NilaJones

@nullagent THAT's more like it! The Palestinian flag is a nice touch too. This looks like it basically had a CD intention to it, as no serious attempts at unarrests were on this video at least. When it is intended that nobody will submit to arrest, it is necessary to be very fast and very forceful in resisting the cops.

The obvious example is charging the cops to escape a kettle: this must be done as soon as the kettle is detected, before the enemy can solidify their lines. It must also be done with absolute commitment to victory at any price

@LukefromDC

There's so many videos from significant actions popping up on all my socials it would appear multiple protests occurred through out multiple areas.

@nullagent

Solidarity to all political prisoners arrested by the New York Occupation Forces!

@nullagent They could also chant something like "Go back to Long Island" if someone could work out a catchy rhythm for that.
@roadskater @nullagent Someone should calculate how much the suburban warriors steal by evading tolls every day with their defaced license plates & compare that to how much toll evasion they supposedly deter.
@nullagent public transportation should be free.
@chontorres @nullagent Yes. It costs so much less to make it free. The remaining cost of operation? Get it taxing car use.
@nullagent I'm a certified #NYC hater but this... This is beautiful. āœŠšŸ¼#ACAB #FuckTheNYPD

@nullagent

A year or 2 ago Albuquerque New Mexico became the largest American city to make public transit free for all of its users.

They saved a TON of money by doing it.

#FreePublicTransit
#ACAB

@ClintonAnderson

Pretty easy to see why that's the cheaper option, glad to see a US city getting it right!

#Albuquerque #NewMexico

@nullagent

They aren't even the only ones...

We even have a couple of cities going #FreePublicTransit in Ontario Canada...

We need more and more and more!

@ClintonAnderson @nullagent This is awesome! Do you happen to have a source where I could read more? (I'm sure I could find one, just curious if you had a good one already)

@bean @nullagent

Not to hand

You'll be able to find it, easy enough

Cheers eh

@ClintonAnderson @nullagent This seems to be a decent article, but I might do some more research to see if there are any detailed analyses or papers on the concept, I'd love to learn more!

Albuquerque Makes Final Push for Fare-Free Transit

The city may join the ranks of others where it's free to ride the bus. It's part of a growing trend among smaller cities that are prioritizing ridership over revenue.

@nullagent @joemama i hate pretty much everything about the incident that caused this but i can imagine the victim/victims of this shooting feeling very moved by this support
@nullagent I'm long removed from it, but I love my hometown.
@nullagent this is beautiful to see thank you for posting. I am so glad to see the youth of nyc show up in such force like this

@nullagent
Luv this video.
If your able bodied, you could also protest by riding a bike :)

I started riding mine way more when they increased the pricing to the 2.90 It's a gym that gets me to work and saves money too.

The ice in the winter is gonna get interestingšŸ¤”

@nullagent wait is THAT why there have been so many cops in the subway lately
@nullagent love to have a violence department in every town
@migurski @nullagent it’s called the Emergency Department.
@nullagent
@corbden
This is going to cost so much more than the fair.

@nullagent three people down two train cars apart. That’s some real ā€œdisciplinedā€ work by the nypd.

Also, no medical care being given to at least two of them, cops just standing guard over bodies.

@Laukidh

The even took the time to handcuff the guy 😔

@nullagent @Laukidh "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT!" *bleeding to death*
@nullagent I couldn’t really tell, cause it’s only a couple frames, but I bet the one who was getting medical attention was the cop.
@Laukidh @nullagent
We backed down too easily from demands to defund the police. The amount of money that is wasted on criminal defense and legal settlements for police misconduct would be better spent solving social problems like homelessness.
@nullagent and people call me crazy for referring to cops as state sponsored terrorists. How many more examples do we need to see?
@nullagent ACAB. They waste our money and our lives. Terrible people.
@nullagent Incredible. What do they even learn in several years of training?
@nullagent
.
that's authority, and it's the same with spanking, people want to make their kid do something worth three dollars, but it turns into a battle of wills and things, "escalate."
.
Somebody tell me how this attitude would ever NOT "escalate?"
