Senator #TammyBaldwin of #Wisconsin, who is up for re-election this cycle & has maintained a sizable lead in polling over her Republican opponent, has skipped most of the convention this week. But she arrived on Thurs to deliver a promise to voters that #Democrats would protect #SocialSecurity & #Medicare.
Representative #JoeNeguse of #Colorado, 40, is seen as a rising star in the #House Democratic caucus. His speech appeared to be aimed at younger voters, arguing that Harris will fight to make #college more #affordable, invoking his own daughter in explaining his support for her.
Representative #RajaKrishnamoorthi of #Illinois, the top #Democrat on the #China Select Committee in the #House, provided remarks on #ForeignPolicy.
China wants "us to fight against ourselves,” Krishnamoorthi said.
To date, most #Democrats have focused their #Project2025 attacks on #abortion restrictions. Representative #JasonCrow of #Colorado is getting into the NationalSecurity & #ForeignPolicy details of Project 2025, saying #Trump will abandon America’s #allies & undermine NATO. Trump has tried & failed to distance himself from Project 2025, but one doesn’t need it to discern Trump’s views about allies & #NATO.
Among all the points that #Democrats make about the #HeritageFoundation’s #Project2025 blueprint for the next #Trump admin, one that we know Trump 100% plans on, #JasonCrow brought up: Trump will lay off thousands of #federal #CivilServants & replace them with Trump #loyalists. Trump tried to do it in the closing months of his administration, he dubbed the plan #ScheduleF. It only didn’t happen because he ran out of time.
Rep #ElissaSlotkin of #Michigan, is running for retiring Senator #DebbieStabenow’s seat. It is one of the closest #Senate races in the country.

He notes that cadets are forbidden to #lie, #steal, #cheat “or tolerate those who do,” & says #Trump “has violated every word in that code — a serial liar, cheater, thief who looked soldiers in the eye, then turned around & called fallen heroes ‘suckers’ & ‘losers.’”
#PatRyan said voters should “demand our next president be someone who not only treats our #veterans with respect but everyone with respect, with dignity, with decency, with the truth. Someone like #KamalaHarris.”

#Sharpton drew a sharp contrast between #Harris & Trump on the issue of #race, saying Harris has long fought for #RacialJustice while Trump cares about “sowing division.” This is one of the most direct discussions of #racism in America that I’ve heard at the #DNC.

#YusefSalaam, speaking about how #Trump persecuted them said, “That man thinks that #hate is the animating force in America. It is not.”
#Trump never allowed that #TheExoneratedFive deserved a #trial before deciding they were guilty, telling reporters he wanted the city to hate them even as Mayor Ed Koch urged for calm.
Their stories take on greater meaning as Trump continues to insist he himself is being persecuted by the justice system.
