Car traffic is a DDoS attack on cities.
@TheWarOnCars I never would've thought of it in those terms, but now you've pointed it out, I'll never be able to look at it any other way!
@WilliamNB @TheWarOnCars yeah it's kinda obvious in hindsight, just never quite saw it before
@TheWarOnCars and in rural areas theres wwre 5 crashes on the A9 alone in ten days this month and that excludes crashes on minor single track A roads, which regularly close roads ,plus the minor delays which make doing even a short trip for essential appointments a nightmare and the habiitual speeding that makes normally safe and quiet rural roads death traps.We dont go beyond the local village or some back roads to the next village for supplies between May and September because its not safe
@TheWarOnCars Do you have this on a t-shirt? I want one.
@TheWarOnCars remember the truck rally in Ottawa?
charvaka (@[email protected])

I was really late getting into work today. The reason? There was a huge #DDOS attack on the Bay Bridge today. All these other crazy people with cars tried to use the bridge instead of letting me get to work in peace. I even tested the bridge in the middle of the night two years ago and it was fine then. Thank you #ElonMusk for helping me realize what's going on. I got red-pilled today!

@TheWarOnCars

I hate to say it, but so are e-bikes going 30 mph in the bike lanes. I love e-bikes. I own an e-bike. If you need a motorcycle helmet to ride your e-bike, it's a motorcycle.

Sorry to rant...

#BikeTooter

@unabogie @TheWarOnCars complaints about e-bikes are complaints about under-designed bike infrastructure, which is too narrow for the purpose of transportation because we gave too much space to cars, because ppl have places to go and obviously they can't get there biking 5mph on sidewalks. The same complaints apply to fast riders, and 30mph is feasible for a fit rider in lycra with skinny tires. People going fast, for whatever reason, should have room to pass a pair riding abreast. #BikeTooter
@enobacon @TheWarOnCars I'm talking about riding on multi-use paths where people are walking.
@unabogie @TheWarOnCars pedestrian conflicts and bikes on sidewalks, also caused by under-designed bike infrastructure. Keep wishing for human nature to be different instead of actually designing for bikes as transportation, and people will keep choosing cars.
@enobacon @TheWarOnCars I'm clearly not talking about sidewalks.
@unabogie @TheWarOnCars can anyone tell the difference between sidewalks and most bike infrastructure?

@enobacon @TheWarOnCars

Yes. Have you never ridden a multi use path? It's not part of the street. It's for bikes and joggers. No cars there. Suddenly, some dude on a vehicle that requires zero pedaling is racing by a baby stroller at 30 mph. If you're that dude, you're an asshole.

@unabogie @TheWarOnCars now do the dude who designed it to be a narrow space for joggers and strollers to share with 30mph people on bikes (some of whom are even pedaling without a motor and also assholes)

@enobacon @unabogie @TheWarOnCars

A multi use path is NO place for ANYONE to go 30... I don't care if you're peddling or not.

Give the Right Of Way to the more vulnerable user, always. If that means slowing your roll, then slow your fucking roll. If that means rolling somewhere else, then roll somewhere fucking else.

Why do some cyclist have to be such absolute arseholes???

@ClintonAnderson @enobacon @TheWarOnCars

I've actually been a little shocked at the number of "cyclists" who think a multi use path is the right place to ride their motorcycles.

Also, I don't know how many cyclists are pushing average 30mph on flats but my only question to them is why they're not in France?

@unabogie @enobacon @TheWarOnCars I mean, sure, ride your "motorcycle" there... But keep it at a reasonable speed.

Somewhere between zero and 1/2mph please.

Or, even better... Take it home and ride it right up ones own back passage!

😉

@ClintonAnderson @unabogie @TheWarOnCars it's not "some cyclists", just some people. Calling e-bikes "motorcycles" and replying to facts about cars with complaints about bikes though 🙃 that's "as a cyclist myself" stuff. As for "multi-use path" design, where is the 30mph bikeway? You're just saying "get in a car" and blaming users for flawed transportation system design.

@enobacon @unabogie @TheWarOnCars Says the guy who apparently wants to pedal 30 mph around children.................

Weird

@ClintonAnderson I'm not that guy except you assumed it because you would rather blame the user than fix the system that created the conflict 🙄

@TheWarOnCars

Imagine blocking someone over bike advocacy....

@ClintonAnderson @enobacon @unabogie @TheWarOnCars Real men don't fight straw men, Clinton.

@pkraus @enobacon @unabogie @TheWarOnCars

Misandry isn't a cogent contribution

Imagine, thinking that asserting Alpha Bullshit was anything other than weird.

@enobacon @unabogie @TheWarOnCars

Yes. The sidewalks' curbs will damage the car's wheels when they barge in. The regular bike infrastructure with its paint and pool noodles will not.

@TheWarOnCars
Wait until these bike-haters hear how car drivers behave!

@TheWarOnCars
And islands, and towns, & everywhere people live

#NotJustCities

@TheWarOnCars @cdamian The city still works fine for me on the bike even if the cars do not move an inch.
