I've heard that they own the Alien movies, too.
That makes the Alien Queen a Disney Princess.
D'oh!

@julesh Disney did the expected thing and raised prices, then relented after some backlash, but in some cases too late after damaging decades of theatrical traditions and crushing the business models of the smallest and most independent theaters in a particularly bad time to do that.
Disney+ gets a lot of the focus of the blame for theaters dying, but Disney probably did most of its damage in buying 20th Century and changing its film catalog fees. I expect there will be interesting books on it.
@julesh Don't they have to be the protag. to qualify? (Also, I think Disney maintains an official list of individuals now, instead of just a set of qualifications.)
I think Godzilla might be a Disney princess; she is female (lays eggs, so probably?) and royalty ("King of Monsters") and sometimes the protag.
@julesh I didn't find a Disney link, but https://mickeyvisit.com/disney-princesses/ is a fairly recent article (from a non-Disney source), and it says the official list is of individuals:
> What are official Disney Princesses?
> An official Disney Princess is a female character whom Disney has put on the official list and as part of the official franchise. Currently, these princesses include Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzel, Tiana, Moana, Mulan, Ariel, Raya, Pocahontas, Merida, Aurora, and Jasmine.
😞
@BoydStephenSmithJr @julesh Then I guess there's a difference between small-p and big-P princesses.
- For example, the characters from Frozen are small-p Disney princesses, but they're in their own Frozen toy line rather than big-P Disney Princess.
- Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Rabbit from Pooh, Easter Bunny from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Judy Hopps from Zootopia are small-b Disney bunnies outside of the Bambi-spinoff Disney Bunnies toy line.
This parallels things like "small-c conservative" and "small-l libertarian" in politics.

@BoydStephenSmithJr @julesh It's not 100% unambiguous because there are so many different media, but generally Godzilla is taken to be male. (#Monsterdon could confirm)
Mothra is definitely female, but I'm not sure if she's royalty 🤷
Spaceballs had one.

The Xenomorphs are vicious predatory creatures with no higher goals than the propagation of their species and the destruction of any life that could pose a threat to them. Like wasps or bees, Xenomorphs are eusocial, with a fertile Queen breeding a host of subordinate castes. The creatures are known for t
