2/ Gov. Walz to Vice President Harris: "Thank you for bringing back the joy."
Later: “Don’t ever underestimate teachers” Wild cheers.
4/ “Trump froze during the COVID crisis."
“Don’t believe Trump when he’s playing dumb. He knows exactly what #Project2025 is.”
5/ & my favorite:
“Make no mistake, violent crime was up under Donald Trump…. That’s not even counting the crimes he committed”
8/ 🏆🔥 for couch reference!!
Full quote:
Walz on Vance: I can’t wait to debate the guy. That is, if he’s willing to get off his couch and show up.
As a European, i'm really happy that there's a strong team now on the democratic side of the aisle.
Let's now hope they get the numbers out to vote!
haha! so true.
@AlisonW @deborahh @richardgrant @GottaLaff yes. Also, most felons aren't bad people, they are ordinary people who made bad mistakes or used bad judgement. For the most part it doesn't define them (or shouldn't).
But creepy is who you are.
@deborahh @richardgrant @GottaLaff They can both be insults. One is subjective opinion, and the other is an objective fact on record.
He's a weird, felonious phony.
@richardgrant @GottaLaff Also, "creepy" lacks the ableist overtones of "weird" (a slur with which Autistic and physically disabled kids are taunted every day).
"Creepy" is still a way of saying "different in a way that makes ME uncomfortable," but IMO it somehow manages to avoid the ableism.
ka-POWWWW!!

"Do not carelessly take the hope of others my friends.
We all derive that most precious gift from so many different sources. From deep within ourselves, from belief in good and benevolent supernatural forces, from belief in ordered and ultimately just natural forces, and from a plethora of other deeply held and personal beliefs uncounted.
Our fight is not with hope fellow citizens, it is with intolerance, despair, suffering, and death.
In fact, we need not fear the beliefs of others, only their imposition upon us."

Honestly, I thought he was going to finish that with "he's not playing."
While watching this event, I try to put myself in the shoes of someone on the Trump campaign watching it, who must be bowing their head in despair, saying under their breath, "we're SO fucked".
I've been trying to imagine the awkward "regular folk" stuff Trump and Vance will be trying to do in public to match Harris and Walz. Can they set their weirdness aside and do just one appealing, heartwarming thing? Doubt it.
@Jfillian @Wileymiller @GottaLaff I'll tell you why they're scared: they can feel the power (the same way it happened with Obama) and they cannot stand the fact that they're gonna have a woman of color POTUS. They just cannot stomach it. Even the "I'm not racist" ones... When Obama was elected the day after the election was a workday (I think a monday but not sure)

@Jfillian @Wileymiller @GottaLaff
and I was working for a very conservative organization. I mean VERY. Out of the 1000 emplyees there were 3 blue dots. The day after he was elected I showed up at the office as usual right? And for some reason I didn't run into the usual people on my way to my office. I found that strange... I walked around a virtual empty floor, went down 1 floor, just about empty as well... I was confused.
