Lol. Lmao even. A hard no. Not on our laptops.
@frameworkcomputer When I see stickers like this I always like trying to figure out what demographic would be impressed or excited by this information
@frameworkcomputer Also, I'm pushing to get our company to do our next hardware refresh with you guys. Dell is expensive and not fun to work on. I tried replacing a battery last week - now my laptop idles fine for hours but just dies if I try to actually do anything on battery 😭
@ThaMunsta @frameworkcomputer I've had the same stupid thing happen to a dell laptop last year! Only way to keep it running was by seriously limiting the max power draw of the cpu, making it worthless as a high power dev machine...
@ThaMunsta @frameworkcomputer Tail end of Gen Z here! Unimpressed. Moving on-
@ThaMunsta @frameworkcomputer I suppose people who want to run AI locally.
@4Ld0r1thm5 sure but is that what that means?? What engine? What does it work with? What does "supercharged" mean? Who is supposed to know what this sticker actually means??
@ThaMunsta this line of laptops are specifically marketed for business. They can use whatever engine they want, and as for supercharged, that should be obvious.
@4Ld0r1thm5 so you argue this laptop is for business people who want to run AI locally, but you also think it's generic enough to use any engine and that turbocharged means something obvious... So you're impressed?
None of those words define an objective measument of "good" and THAT was my point. I'm sure it's a perfectly fine laptop and if you bought it for yourself, don't feel like you need to defend your purchase. I just hate buzzwords that companies have no accountability over. It makes the customers expectations subjective. If the computer isn't "supercharged" enough that's just because you expected too much out of it... It's unfair.
@ThaMunsta I don't mean to "nah I ain't reading all that" on you, but my head hurts from work. So I ain't reading all that right now.
@frameworkcomputer Adding a "Ewww" feature, not a new feature.
@frameworkcomputer This has "How do you do fellow kids" written all over it.
@frameworkcomputer all the boomers at work would love this... Barf!
@frameworkcomputer
"See disclaimers on product box"
@sebastian @frameworkcomputer It’s not even a hardware feature? (β€œStandard data rates may apply”) Looks like it just sends stuff to HP… makes it look at first glance like this is a hardware capability for the laptop but it’s just cloud bullshit.

@DeltaWye To befair I think it refers to the stuff behind the QR-code. At least that's were the other asterisk is.

@frameworkcomputer

@frameworkcomputer OMG YES!!!! I am so EXCITED for my laptop to spy on me AS WELL!!!!!
@frameworkcomputer in classic "ai" fashion, I have no clue what the product actually does
@frameworkcomputer the only AI I want on my machine are armadillo images.

β€œPower your personal productivity with #AI ! Multiply your abilities…!” - HP

β€œYou see, the spider believes.

She sees those cat’s-cradles herself and thinks them her own work…

Why, if that troop of witlings withdrew their wonder, there’d be nothing left of all her witchery but the sound of a spider weeping.

And no one would hear it.”

β€œSee disclaimers on product box.” - HP

@frameworkcomputer
"Multiply your abilities with an AI engine"
I doesn't say by what it multiplies. Could be by 0.3.

@frameworkcomputer @dyckron

This is how civilization ends. Not with a bang, but with a seven fingered hand holding a bacon ice-cream cone.

@frameworkcomputer @dyckron

Hmmm… would make a good icon image for these "multiply your creativity" stickers, an angelic tarot Ace hand triumphantly holding aloft the radiant confection? πŸ€”

disclosure: I have only ever been asked once, and only that once, to attend a marketing meeting. They wanted gate receipts but feared putting 'science' in a science museum would scare people away. I suggested adding free beer and naked dancers.

@frameworkcomputer thank you framework for not taking the idiotic @protonprivacy approach.
@frameworkcomputer HP already makes shitty printers and computers they dont have to rub it in like that
@frameworkcomputer it multipies your productivity.
It does not say by what. If could be times 0.1
@frameworkcomputer this laptop us looking really moddable and and linuxable rn
@frameworkcomputer I'm hoping one of my laptops break so I have an excuse to buy a framework, and it's partly because you seem to recognize the difference between a "feature" and a "product"
@frameworkcomputer You should peel that sticker back and check to see if it's covering up the "NFT/web3/blockchain will enhance your personal productivity" sticker...
@frameworkcomputer That "AI" logo looks like the kana for "re" in Hiragana (γ‚Œ).
@frameworkcomputer the laptop chips are like well we have 55 tops - you can get 10x that by just buying a gpu for heavens sake
@frameworkcomputer GeForce RTX 4090 GPU offers more than 1,300 TOPS 20x the best ai laptop out there right now

@frameworkcomputer

(Source: The wonderful @unascribed )

@faoluin @frameworkcomputer my only shame is that the laptop in the official photo isn't a Framework
@frameworkcomputer πŸ’€Nah I’m gonna get Linux for no AI junk
@frameworkcomputer fixed that for you
@knuppelbeer Good "Married ...With Children" reference.
@frameworkcomputer 3 items to say: we have ia, we have ia, to have ia scan here. without explaining how what and why.
@frameworkcomputer The question I have is: How many computers will become paperweights once the AI bubble bursts?

@frameworkcomputer I was so excited to see companies finally having another shot at ARM laptops...

But my disappointment when the main "selling point" became AI was ***immeasurable***...

@frameworkcomputer ...and i was expecting a sentient notebook. that's a pretty awful way to disappoint the "us" from the past

@frameworkcomputer

Multiply your abilities with an AI engine

They don't even know how exactly this AI could benefit anyone, they just wrote the most generic thing they could come up with XD (assuming they didn't ask ChatGPT about it)

@frameworkcomputer I honestly read that as β€œLower your personal productivity with AI” on first glance.
@frameworkcomputer You don't have Intel Core Ultra processors with the NPU? Or are you talking about not having dumb stickers on your laptops?
@frameworkcomputer You know what else your laptops shouldn't have? Intel BootGuard.
I can't wait for the AI bubble to burst and the hype die down a bit so we can return to something like sanity. AI / ML can be useful, but slapping AI and putting AI in everything helps no one.
@frameworkcomputer
"*Standard rates may apply" - like 1-900 number commercials from my childhood

@frameworkcomputer

Install linux, avoid stolen IP, surveillance. AI is bad code, not hardware.

Poor damn laptop, save it from bad code.
