@luckytran good to know we're still prioritizing washing hands over masks. washing hands is just generally a good idea, but we already know that picking it up from surfaces is a very unlikely way to get infected with SARS-CoV-2. nearly all infections are from breathing in aerosols and they still wanna act like masks aren't the single best way to reduce that.

Tell us the truth. A lot of us would have appreciated that and not used medical masks so that HCW could have a supply, but when the truth comes out afterwards it makes it that much easier for the denialists to say, "See? They were lying."
It doesn't matter what they lied about or why, what matters is the loss of trust. Same goes with refusing to acknowledge Long Covid for so long.
It's frustrating.

@davidreinertson they aren't supposed to "please" people, they are supposed to follow the science. that's the whole problem. they are supposed to protect the population, not please capitalist by protecting their financial interests or hedge to not upset certain voters too much by mentioning things they might not like. selling this to special interest groups isn't their job, educating the public about how to keep themselves and each other safe is.

A fairly surface level reading of these two posts would reveal that the desired outcome is for public health recommendations be a little more focused on the science & what actually WORKS in preventing infection as opposed to what people want to hear.
