Today and tomorrow we host the 2nd international #BirdNET+ Workshop. As @kahst has put it: a meeting of the "avengers of #bioaccoustics".

Today we Start with presentations of all the projects that gathered at @tuchemnitz to share their knowledge.

After Stefan gave us a Brief overview of the scale at which #BirdNET is used worldwide, Maha is now talking about mis-classification and how the Team tackles this challenging Problem.
Very Nice detail: even though we are in the middle of the city #Chemnitz there is a #EuropeanRobin singing just outside the venue. Well organized #BirdNET Team!
The bird was of course identified by the #BirdNET App ;)
Now Melissa is giving an Update on the ongoing project in #Hawaii. Recorders monitor #avian activity on a US army base to protect animals from flight traffic.
Connor joins US now to talk about #realtime monitoring, which is important in many use cases. For example when monitoring invasive #owl species in southern california with #BirdNET or rerouting tourists, away from mating areas of birds in the bavarian Forrest.
Connor now follows up with a #wishlist for #BirdNET from a ecologial side. One example are priority species #monitoring for forestry management using occupancy mapping. This includes better within-species classification.
After a short Q&A session Holger from the K. Lisa Yang Center for #Conservation #Bio #Acoustics tells us about his work. It includes both #biodiversity / #ecological assesment and (real time) threat detection/reporting and the many challenges that they face in these fields.
Almost as to celebrate: #whobird , an offline offspring of #BirdNET , just released a new Version on the f-droid store.
After the first set of talks we head into our well earened #coffee break. The Presentations will continue at 11:10 am.
After a cup of coffee were happy that Sarab is joining us remotely from the UK and talking about how they use #BirdNET for sensing #ecosystems
After another set of interesting questions were moving on to Dan from #Naturalis in the #netherlands. They run different projects in the netherlands and #Europe using acoustic monitoring and more.
Now #foldAI #foldEcosystemics are presenting their take on #bioacoustics and #monitoring and all the issues they had to solve to geht their recorders working.
With a little delay we head into the lunch break with Brezels ;) #germanExperience
With full bellies we begin the next part with some more talks. Starting is the Museum für #Naturkunde in #Berlin an their Huge collection of bird sounds.
We also have some presents for the people attending the Workshop. #BirdNET
Now the #DawnChorus Project from #Bavaria is telling us how they are combining citizen science and Art in their App. They also provide #educational resources for children and more.
Next, all the way from Costa Rica, Alvaro is presenting their #Euphonia App.
The last coffee break for today to get in touch with each other is on the way. #BirdNET
During the last break people enjoy some time in the sunny courtyard of @tuchemnitz #BirdNET
Time to kick off the last Session for today. #DeepBirdDetect is presented by Katharina, Christoph and Rene. They work an protecting birds in large Wind parks using #ai such as #BirdNET
Leandro is now giving us an overview of their biacoustic work at #biometrio .earth including nature based solutions #BirdNET
The #BirdNET project also brought their own demo to give some insights in how the #ai works.
Last but not least we will heare about #XenoCanto wich laid much of the groundwork for many of the projects we heard about today. Thanks for all your hard work!
This concludes the first Day of the Workshop. Tomorrow at 7:30am we will Start with the #BirdNET Birding Club.
Day two of the 2nd international BirdNET+ Workshop did Start with the first official meeting of the #BirdNET Birding Club #bbc Now we are enjoying a cup of coffee and later will be two parallel sessions on the future of bio acoustics.
#Sessions are under way:
Track 1 #Bioacoustics at scale
Track 2 Everything futuristic in #Computational Bioacoustics
Connor is presenting their results of the first group about #bioacoustics at scale.#BirdNET
And now Dan talks about the Future of Computational Bio Acoustics, focusing on #Data #BirdNET
Thanks @kahst and #BirdNET Team for the Organisation of the Workshop! Some final discussions continue before were heading for lunch. Thanks to everyone attending. See you next year.
As a little addendum: the results from the two sessions.
