@standaloneSA Need to post this on my brain and not let it get back to scrolling. 😅

@standaloneSA great. I just wonder whether the big warning sign could be anything more appropriate. It's not about electric shock. Maybe the biohazard sign, but also only in a symbolic way.

(image shows a warning sign/label, on top a red bar with a yellow triangle with exclamation mark, and the white text DANGER. below a yellow triangle with a flash denoting electric hazard on the left, and text on the right: "DO NOT CONNECT MACHINE TO INTERNET NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT ASKS")
@isotopp

@martinvermeer @standaloneSA @isotopp I find a threat that is not immediately visible or recognizable a better analogy. Against bumping your head, you can look and move carefully and be safe. connecting vulnerable devices to the internet results in a danger that is neither apparent not may happen immediately. so the ☣️ (biohazard) comes closer i think.
@KarlE @standaloneSA @isotopp can't go wrong with this one lol
@standaloneSA I have to ask what sort of device this is for as I can think of a few eccentric ones
@standaloneSA Especially if it's running Windows 11.
@standaloneSA go round slapping them on TVs in shops?
@puck @standaloneSA @darac and fridges, and microwaves, and... hell, just put it on everything.
@standaloneSA I need this sticker for my printer
@standaloneSA This should be put on every printers.
@standaloneSA I always say to myself maybe it'd be better if my Server wasn't connected to the internet so it can't get any Updates and restart itself, but that would also defeat the whole purpose of that device as a Server...

@standaloneSA Danger sign with two yellow triangles containing an exclamation mark or lighning bolt, it reads:
DANGER (on red background)

DO NOT CONNECT MACHINE TO INTERNET NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT ASKS

@schmittlauch @standaloneSA

Thank you, I just added it to my backlog of alt text bullshit... but.. WHY IN HELL DO YOU HIDE IT BEHIND A CONTENT WARNING!?

@angelastella @standaloneSA I see that as a content *note*, not *warning*, and just want to point out for those not in need of alt-text that this reply does not contain any additional information.

In some clients, CNs are also visually collapsed, reducing the clutter.

@standaloneSA This is going on my Bambu 3D printer. That fucker is never getting the WiFi password
@standaloneSA this absolutely needs to be a sticker
@standaloneSA
I might get this on a t-shirt
@standaloneSA "Do not disconnect this machine from the internet no matter how much it begs"

@standaloneSA

PLEEEEESE WIFI PASSWORD!!!!!

@standaloneSA needs to be sized to fit a 'smart' TV bezel
@standaloneSA
This should be mandatory for all Windows machines.
@standaloneSA So many industrial machines with built in computers running totally un-patched windows 7 constantly begging to be connected to the internet.
@standaloneSA it'll do it itself by switching GPIO pins and thus causing a small but enough radio interference
@a1ba note to self: don’t give AI machines GPIO pins…
@standaloneSA so what if hypothetically speaking it has its own network that's arguably faster than the internet, with a good chunk of all the information from it, and also planetary scale? asking for a friend
