Paul Vierkant

After months of sorting more than 50k bricks & numerous weekends of building, my son & I finished the #Lego Millennium Falconโ„ข (75192) last weekend.
Made of around 7.5k colorful bricks & weighing around 13kg in total. Our greatest Lego project ever.
Out of the 7.5k bricks we had 6.5k in our stocks & ordered the rest. Believing in #sustainability we reused most of the bricks we already had.

Because it's #caturday and to illustrate the dimensions, our cat posed with the #Lego Millennium Falcon and "accidentally" killed #chewbacca, #c3po, and #bb9e.

@srgower we used the official pdf from Lego https://www.lego.com/cdn/product-assets/product.bi.core.pdf/6446845.pdf
Iโ€™m glad they provide those. 1372 steps in total. We managed to get 100 done per weekend.

@paul4kant That is a really cool instruction booklet on its own. The reference to the 2000 Falcon - that one reminds me of classic Lego space sets.

This ist brilliant.๐Ÿ˜ It is beautiful and doesn't gloss over but in fact highlights the patchwork the Falcon really is.

@paul4kant what method did you use to do the sorting? I have about 300lbs of loose lego that I need to sort at some point, and it feels extremely daunting

@twipped First we sorted them according to color which turned out to be useless, because when we needed a brick, we often did have it, but in a different color.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Later we sorted them according to shape using drawer cabinets from HBM for the bricks of which we only had a few. Our sorting logic is based on clustering (e.g. all tiles). The labels from the #Lego Architect were quite helpful: https://brickarchitect.com/labels/
Larger bricks & plates went into boxes from #IKEA under the bed.
